The best way to stop smoking is to have the common sense to not start something that you know will kill you in the first place, but since you're here, I'd just replace it with something that isn't harmful.

I did this and haven't touched a cigarette for a year.

Now I just drink coke all day.

I quit four years ago. My best advice to you is to stay caffeinated and balance it out with lots of water almost like a detox. Try to be as healthy as you can in the rest of your life. The caffeine will sort of be like trading one addiction for another, but it will sure help with the headaches and the withdrawal; at least it did for me.

Gum of any kind can help as a sort of oral fixation, but if you want an approximation of the flavor a cigarette leaves in your mouth without paying for expensive nicotine gum, as crazy as it may sound, try chewing/sucking on whole cinnamon sticks.

I smoked for 2 years and I just decided I didn't want to do it and to see how long I can go without smoking. Been 2 years since I did that and never wanted to smoke again. It's really pointless when you stop and think about it.

You quit smoking. You admit you are a pussy and afraid of death. Do you want to be a pussy? I don't think so, keep smoking. I smoke two a time sometimes just to solidify the fact that I'm not a pussy. I also look cool as fuck.

I'd definitely rather smoke weed than cigarettes.

I hate coke. although actually I don't drink any dark soda. I don't really like it and it isn't good for you so why bother.

Well, to be fair, there's only about a 50/50 chance that you'll die from tobacco if you use it your entire life.

It undeniable increases your chances of dying from a lung-related condition.

I smoked for 3 years as well and honestly, quitting is NOT as hard as everyone says it is. I quit cold turkey, and as long as you go into it having convinced yourself you don't need it, half of the time you don't even want it, and that all it is is part of the daily routine, (after a meal, when you walk outside, in the car, etc.) it's only hard for 2 or 3 days. After that it's really not a worry for more than a random second or two a day.

replacing the chances for lung cancer with increased brain cancer risk (from the aspartame in your Diet Coke) seems like a stupid move personally.

Breaking News! This just in! Five out of ten smokers will eventually die from their habit! Ten out of ten non-smokers will die anyway!

That is what my Italian professor started doing, worked pretty good from what I saw.

-everytime you get the urge, drink a glass of water
-get a new vice like coffee, energy drinks or weed
-meditate
-talk to people who have had loved ones die of lung cancer

idk, i'm trying to be constructive.

but if you really enjoy it, why stop? memento mori.

I quit smoking this past Friday after 2 years of smoking. Was it tough? Yes, but it all depends on your approach to quitting. Before I quit, I was down to about 2 cigarettes a day; you need to slowly level down the amount of cigarettes you smoke. Once you do that, and you feel you are ready, get rid of ALL your tobacco, all of your lighters, everything that may remind you of lighting up. It is also good to have some sort of motivation to quit; whether it be to become healthier, for your significant other, to prove to others you can quit, whatever it may be! Just make sure there is some purpose behind you quitting. Today is day 5 of quitting for me, and up until yesterday, I was doing extremely well, as in, no urges or cravings for a cigarette. But I hung out with a good friend yesterday who smokes every hour, and I was with him for about 8 hours, so that is 8 cigarettes he smoked right in front of me just to be a prick. When he left, I had the most intense, indescribably horrible urge for a cigarette; I wanted to breakdown and cry, as pathetic as that sounds. But instead I went to the gym and had a wonderful, long workout. I believe that exercise or some sort of fitness routine is necessary to quit. It will take your mind off of things, release endorphins into your body to put you in a better mood, and will also allow to participate in deep breathing exercises which may relieve stress from the deep breathing you partook in with smoking. I'll end this here, just remember, cut down, throw away, motivation, and exercise.
