San Diego veteran rockers, Unwritten Law return to the limelight with Here's To The Mourning, the band's long-awaited, new studio album which is scheduled for release on Lava Records February, 2005. Considered by many to be one of the founding fathers of the Southern California punk/skate scene, Unwritten Law continue to push the envelope while maintaining their credibility as one of the most successful bands to break out of the late 90's SoCal arena. The band's new album is undoubtedly one of the most highly anticipated, pure rock n' roll records to be released in the New Year. Here's To The Mourning, Unwritten Law's sixth studio album, was produced by
Sean Beavan (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson); with additional production
provided by Josh Abraham (Velvet Revolver, Staind.) The album was recorded
at Glenwood Studios in Burbank, California. The disc features a total of
twelve all new tracks including the album's radio-ready, first single "Save
Me." The introspective track was co-written by Unwritten Law and acclaimed
tunesmith/musician Linda Perry. The single, which shows a darker side to
the band, will unquestionably relate to fans with lyrics such as I'm a death
threat / Haven't slept yet / Baby why the wake up call / I'm the bad boy /
Tell the tabloids / Everything's my fault.
Outstanding cuts on the album include the infectious track "I Like The Way,"
and "She Said," both which perfectly compliment frontman Scott Russo's raspy
vocals. Additional highlights from the album include the bass thumping
"Celebration Song," the hard-hitting, ball-buster track "F.I.G.H.T" and
"Walrus," which shows the band's growth as songwriters.
Here's To The Mourning is Unwritten Law's official follow up to the bands
breakthrough album Elva, which spawned the #1 Modern Rock Track "Seein'
Red." The album sold upwards of 400,000 albums and caught the attention of
the producers from the acclaimed MTV series Music In High Places. Unwritten
Law appeared on the show, whose audio tracks were later released as an
acoustic album on Lava Records. The critically acclaimed disc, From Music
In High Places was released in early 2003.
Unwritten Law is Scott Russo on vocals/guitar; Pat Kim on bass; Steve Morris
on guitar; Rob Brewer on guitar; and newly added drummer Tony Palermo. The
band are currently touring the U.S., offering low cost, $10 tickets to their
fans. The tour kicked off at the legendary rock n' roll club CBGB's and
will continue on through Mid-December. For more information, go to

Hopefully they don't make another horrible song like "Seein Red" or that acoustic cd for MTV.

i was at the cbgbs show last week. even without wade, it's amazing how well they perform and how much intensity is behind it. the new song "she said" is great. i really thought they were going to fall apart without wade, but now it's anybody's guess, and i'm personally hoping they can stick this out.
i can't wait for this album.

i'm definitely going to check this cd out when it is released. sounds promising.
Hopefully they don't make another horrible song like "Seein Red" or that acoustic cd for MTV. Yeah I always wondered about that MTV cd. UL is one of the first bands that got me listening to this 'scene' of music. I've been waiting for this since my freshman year in high school. Damn.
Seein Red wasn't thaaat bad.

i don't think this band has maintained any credibility whatsoever...
the fact that they're now the theme song for north shore?

i loved Seein' Red. that song was awesome, i thought. so many people dug that tune... so that's probobly why so many people here hate it.
btw, someone post a clip of a song from their upcoming album... find it somewhere. i've got to hear some of this new stuff!!!!!!!!

seein red wasnt horrible, and i thought the music in high places (i think thats what you're talking about, and it was for vh1) had a really good raw acoustic sound to it. wonder about co-writing with linda perry, something that pink and avril do... but im still looking forward to the cd nonetheless
cailin is an amazing song.... its about his daughter? how emo is that? haha seriosuly though i like it... but its funny to me.

You won't be disappointed. I heard 3 demos from the new album and they are good. There were no titles, but the one song is heavy (not vocally, instrumentally).

I saw it on mtv,i dont know about you dude, but even during the thing they ask them what they are doing it for and they say mtv.maybe they showed it on vh1 also,i dunno exactly, because they are both owned by viacom,so its possible.anyways, cant wait for the new stuff,i loved the acoustic stuff but i really love teenage suicide.its an awesome song.i also loved elva, the rest of my life, seein red and up all night were great songs,oh and geronimo is great also, but some songs were pretty bad.

I can't really respect a band that kicks out its only original member. Plus they are friends with grinspoon, the shittiest band ever.

^ If you're going to give people shit about typing, perhaps you should use words such as "you're" and "people". Oh yes, and punctuation helps at the end of the sentence.
I'll check this album out, I'm sure. "Tabloid" and "bad boy" is a good rhyme.

this was one of my favorite bands as a kid...i used to know people who had a "personal relationship" with the band.
this music is high places thing....
The scout from FMIHP was originally looking for Jimmy Eat World to do the show. Jimmy Eat World's manager has the same last name as UL's. The FMIHP guy contacted ULs manager, only to realize it was not the manager of JEW. After the they realized the mishap, Unwritten laws manager said he'd be glad to have unwritten law do the show, considering ELVA had no other hit that seein red, and the band went under the rader. Unwritten Law ended up doing the show.
i know almost everything about this band, i used to be fanatical back in the day. when wade was still their drummer and their music was still good. If you're into breaking benjamin and commercial shit like that, then pick up the new album. If not, pick up the new isis/converge.

wade's been saying shit like that since he left unwritten law/got kicked out.
he has a right to be pissed off and bitter, but i'm just not seeing what he's saying. unwritten law seemed to be in top form the other night, and the new song was great.
i know he's pissed, but i'm not giving up on this band until i hear the album myself. ya know?

BOOM! Saint Joel strikes again.
Elva was a terrible cd compared to their others. I had been into the band for like six years when that came out, and it was seriously one of the most disapointing things I had ever heard, and never even grew on me.
