so i have finally decided to get a tattoo. i know what i want and where i want it. i just need to go and do it. i have been contemplating for about 6 months and decided for sure this week.


how should i decide where to get it done? any suggestions or thoughts or experiences?

I would definitely do your research, shop around, and get recommendations from anyone you know in your area that has gone to a certain place. It's on your body forever, so take your time and choose the right place.

do what i did and go to a tattoo convention! you have some of the best tattooists from all around in one room! you can go look at all their work, stop have a chat and discuss ur tat before you have it done! plus the one I went to had a burlesque stripshow and pole dancers!

Agreed... choose the wrong place and you could end up with AIDS, Hepatitis B or C, tetanus, syhilis, or teberculosis... or just one really crappy tattoo...

like everyone has already said go to somewhere you know someone's gone before, multiple times preferably.
i just got my first one yesterday and i went to somewhere my best friend went for hers and she got the rec from her brother's friend and he'd got a few from there before. i'd been in there a could times with my friend for her peircings and i kinda looked around and made sure things looked legit. you can tell when you walk into a shitty place.
but it went smoothly even though i was scared shitless before it began.
but i love it with all my heart! haha.

and the yellow line is sharpie so he knew not to go below that. it still hasnt come off and its aggravating.

that's really awesome! I love it! did it hurt? I feel like your finger would.

and I can't even see the yellow line! god, I swear my vision's horrible. I'm surprised the doctor didn't tell me I needed glasses last time I went lol.

haha it hurt, but it only hurt really really bad when it got closer to the bottom of my finger. where the yellow line that you cannot see is haha.

haha. I do laser hair removal because I have like this anti-hair fetish lol and my hands/fingers hurt worse than anything. they literally feel bruised afterward. so that's why I imagined it would be a painful spot to do.

this didnt hurt as much as that but i guess its kind of the same sensation? just constant not in 1000 zaps.
going into it was literally shaking because i was so scared. and i asked the guy if the fingers hurt as much as everyone claims and he was like "i hated my fingers the most" and i was like "oh, comforting."

That's exactly what would happen to me, one of the few reasons I'll probably never get a tattoo.

i had a long conversation with a friend of mine yesterday about tattoos.

im going to get it inside my left bicep area (so its against my body when my arm is down)

im getting really excited, although i have been told that is a very painful area to get one (oh well!)

I don't think the inside of the arm would be that painful...I have the tops of my feet done TWICE(need touch ups now and again) and that was probably the most painful thing I've gotten done as far as body mods are concerned.

i love madison as well, it is a great place to call home.

i'm not really too worried about pain because i feel that it would be really worth it.

a couple friends of mine have tattoos on the tops of their feet and say it was pretty bad compared to other locations.
