Anyone a fan? I've found myself HOOKED on this genre of film lately, although they are definitely love it or HATE it kinds of films.

Examples: The Puffy Chair, Quiet City, Dance Party USA, Hannah Takes the Stairs, Baghead, etc.

I've never seen any of these. I should check it out.

Definitely. The style is basically really low budget, lots of ad-libbing, good looking twenty somethings living in NY/Chicago and their love lives. WAY more interesting than it sounds.

Hmmm...sounds pretty interesting.

ive never even heard of this (or any of those movies). sounds interesting enough though. sounds like a bad subgenre of hardcore. metal music with idiots mumbling over it.

I've never heard of it but it seems like something I would like.

Have you seen Baghead? If so I'm extremely jealous. It's easily one of my most anticipated this year. You'll definitely want to see LOL, Funny Ha Ha and Mutual Appreciation. Skip Kissing on the Mouth because it's more like a porno than anything else.

I have been getting into this genre lately as well. I have seen Quiet City, Hannah Takes The Stairs, The Puffy Chair, and Mutual Appreciation. I definitely need to check out more films in this genre, there is one with Sean Nelson of Harvey Danger I really want to see but the name is escaping me at the moment

The name mumblecore itself kind of annoys me.

I saw a trailer for Baghead awhile back and it looked like something I might enjoy.

Mumblecore is an American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) independent film (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independent_film) movement (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Movement) that arose in the early 2000s.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mumblecore#cite_note-Hoberman-0)[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mumblecore#cite_note-Lim-1) It is primarily characterized by ultra-low budget production (often employing digital video cameras), focus on personal relationships between twenty-somethings, improvised scripts, and non-professional actors.

Of the ones i've seen, i'd say The Puffy Chair and Dance Party USA are the best, then Quiet City. Aaron Katz is certainly my favorite of the directors.

Love Quiet City, need to see Puffy Chair and others. I really enjoy the genre as a whole, or rather the aspects of it. They interest me.
