I'm Canadian, and it's super popular among my friends.
Most of them anyway. A lot don't watch just because they think it's another drama/soap and since it's so popular...they'd rather not conform. Anyway...I personally like it a lot, it's almost like another 90210, and some of the actors aren't the greatest =/ but it keeps me entertained. Some people are really obsessed with it and talk about it 24/7...so yeah.
It's pretty popular here in North America... it's nuts.

I had all the epis on cd so I could watch them whenever I wanted, I got used to being able to watch 6 or 7 in a row, i can't stand this waiting an entire week just to see what happens next :(

well so far i just got into the OC and i think its a really good show, kinda like 90210 and melrose place back in the early 90's but just a little different. umm as far as the show in itself, loved the first episode, i didnt think the second episode was all that good. so uhh yeah thats what i think peace.

I suppose you're right. The situations are sometimes unrealistic, but the characters (for the most part) are played realistically making the show very relatable regardless of how unrealistic it can sometimes be. Awesome show!

I don't get how the show is unrealisitic at all. Nothing out the ordinary happens at all... look at each character. Marissa is in love with an asshole.. this happens every day... she meets a new guy who treats her right.. her parents get divorced and her she FINALLY discovers her asshole boyfriend is cheating on her and this depresses her enough to make her overdose. She's permanently messed up from this leading to alcohol abuse issues and now she lost the best thing that ever happened to her (ryan) by befriending the wrong guy?? What is unrealistic?

Tell me which character is unrealistic. The Soap Opera's typical Coma's and Forklift accidents aren't around that's for sure.

Oh and also I know the typical complaint is "Its unlikely that all these unfortunate people would all be together at once, its the quantity of their problems happening at all at once that makes it unrealistic"

Keep in mind that this is a drama, it needs some of that. For its genre OC is way ahead of anything else.

No tv show could be entirely realistic... or it wouldn't be entertaining. Even REALITY tv is edited and put into a story line and stuff to make it dramatic and entertaining. The OC is certainly entertaining! Marissa could gain a little bit of weight, lose a couple inches of height, and the show would be perfect! *grins*

I thought she looked so hot in the last episode.. her hair was a little lighter i think. She was really hot at the beginning. She kicks Summer's ass in that category any day.. although Summer is quite hot herself.

Put it this way they BOTH kick the 2 new chicks asses.

Well me and a friend just pummeled season 1 on DVD in approximately 4 days, then watched the 4 other season 2 eps the last two days, and I love it. Its a great show, and obviously the best characters are Ryan, Seth, Sandy and Kirsten. They are the show and they have the best chemistry. Marissa is ridiculous at this point and I am not the biggest fan of her, Summer is great and I think Seth and her have a great relationship so long as they aren't being insane like they are right now, I think Luke was a great character who actually turned out to be a good guy, and Oliver is the most vile character in the history of the world. With the possible exception of Julie Cooper. Every character is well drawn I'd say, and the new characters are looking the same way. I like Alex and Seth together, its a good pairing. Lindsay is right for Seth because she is somewhere between Theresa and Marissa, thank god for that. Those two are my two least favorite characters on the show. They offer the least redeeming value.

This still remains my all time favourite show, even though it went to shit towards the end. I appreciate it so much mainly for the music, it really introduced a lot of bands i'd never even considered let alone heard of at that time. It pretty much baptized me in a world of far better music and what were then completely ambiguous bands to me.

This show is my love.

I watch episodes on DVD allll the timmeee. Every bad thing that could ever happen, happens, and I couldn't ask for me. I could probably spend hours talking about The OC.

The fourth season was a complete and utter disappointment, but we can forgive them.
Becase Seth Cohen is such a beautiful being.

I love the O.C. you guys in Australia are loving it Im sure!! The first season was pretty sick but I really enjoyed the second one that was my favorite! I have all three seasons but I need to go and grab the fourth one. It sucks its no longer on T.V here :-(

Great show, I have it all on dvd. The first two seasons are WAY better than the last but it's worth watching it all just to finish the story. I guess I'm a sucker for the teen drama/soap opera whatever, but I love this show.
