You can read an interesting yet brief update from AFI (www.afireinside.net) regarding their most recent 'throwback' release in the replies.

"To any of our fans who may have bought Nitro Records' AFI anthology, we would like you to know that the decision to create this compilation was made solely by Nitro Records. While we are extremely proud of our body of work over the years, we would like you to know it was not the band's decision to compile, create or promote a "retrospective" at this point in our careers. If you should enjoy it or hear something you've been unable to find elsewhere then great, but please understand it was conceived and sold without our input. We are much more focused on creating a new record for our fans and seeing you all on tour next year.--AFI"

You're an ass. Their new release is from the Nitro days idiot. It's old rarities and stuff. Goddamn I hate people like you: "This bad lost all of their talent by signing to a major."

I think you missed the point, he was saying fuck the new release AFI is working on, not the new release/best of Nitro is putting out...
I do agree with you on bands not losing talent by signing to a major though.

yeah he did dumbass, i said the old afi shit rocks. Newer AFI has forgotten there roots i think and spirits and fires easily get killed by the major labels. That's why i meant it was good Nitro released the original AFI shit, the roots. Funny cause i've actually talked with Davey Havok once after a show by there bus(cause my friends didn't want to go to a bar and get drunk, bastards) and then someone mentioned there Nitro records records and Davey said that label was terrible and he wouldn't even get started on it. But well i guess they make more money now at least. yey! And as for the new record, i haven't heard it yet and don't care much.

Actual, the way major labels are so fucked up, if AFI were to sell 100,000 copies on Nitro, that would be the equivalent of selling like a million on Dreamworks, but yeah.

Yeah and that's when music starts to be something else then what it was from the beggining(for most people), buisness, a product. I kinda lost my respect for the offspring now though to, you know the song "kill the president" on their self titled record. Well on the re-press it's gone and a while ago i visited there website, to find that it was removed from the discography section there to. That's fucking lame. Truly shows there punk days are really dead a long time ago, or maybe they were never even alive. Ok i know this post isn't about the offspring so i'll shut up now.

we can all laugh when anti-flag signs to a major...and afi is hardly going downhill. sing the sorrow was way different than anything they'd done prior, but it is an amazing cd that showed a lot of growth.

No that's when you should cry, i mean ok that bands like blink 182 don't know better then signing to an major. But when a band with real roots and a band actually thinking and with devotion, do then it's scary and sad.
