For those of you in college what are you majoring in?
Or for those of us not in college (or if you haven't decided yet) what do you want to major in?
Or for people who already graduated, what was your major?
yeah i think i covered all the bases...

when i go to college i want to either double major in Buisiness Administration and Creative writing (weird huh?) or Buisiness Administration and Communications (more practical)
or take Communications or Creative writing as a minor

No offense, but you may want to learn how to spell business right before you graduate. :)

I'm majoring in Mechanical Engineering, however I'm going to go back to school and pick up some biology classes and essentiall double major in mechanical engineering and biomedical engineering. I also want to get a minor in Japanese, so this whole process is going to take a while. Hopefully I'll get a job after I graduated next year and they'll eventually pay for my school to get my biomedical degree as well as my japanese minor. I figure a japanese minor would be good to have for the field I want to go into...

hmm, that does sound saucy indeed. Actually...I was interested in psychology but after a while I just got bored with it cause I dunno...I don't see it as a "real" science but whatever...that's why I'm into neuroscience cause it's like...why chemically are people depressed...are people with low serotonin levels more prone to suicide...shit like that.

nerds rule! hardcore.

that's why I like psychology. because it's not so much science. well at least the type of psychology I want to study [I want to be a shrink type of thing, not a doctor..]. I hate science with a passion. never been into science studies. I'm more of a social studies person.

would you work with people after you're done studying though? like treat people and stuff?

I dunno it really depends...there's what I wanna do and what my parents want me to do. Right now, I'm doing what they want but since it overlaps with what I want...it's good. If I do get into medical school and go through with it all...I'd probably just be a family physician so ya I'd work with people...if I became a psychiatrist I'd work in like...a mental institution.

you're goin for psychologist (my guess)...so you'd do the whole "lie down on this couch and tell me your filth"...I'd be like "aha...aha...aha...yes electro shock therapy for you"...I wouldn't really want either...I like lab work and shit...if I worked with people...it'd be like...a team of researchers...

but right now...it all depends...and I'm late for my bio lecture! bye bye!

Neuroscience is really the way to go. There's been so much expansion in that field in recent years, especially with the popularity of nanotechnology growing as much as it has.

ya def. if I did bioengineering with a minor in neuroscience...I'd be set cause the next big thing (and has been big recently) is all about prosthetic nerves and nervous systems. Working alongside stem cell research...paralysis and shit like that will soon become a thing of the past.

I'm actually a bioe major, but my concentration right now is genetics. I've thought about neuroscience (the bioe advisor is a neuroscience and nanotechnology specialist), but not too seriously. It'll definitely be cool to see how all of the new technology and research plays out in the next few years.

i'm a bio major right now, but i'm going to change to a political science major with a minor in natural sciences soon. the natural science minor covers all required med school classes, so i can be pre-med, and i can also go on a pre-law track with poli sci. if i have time, i'm going to try and throw in a music industry minor in there.

Psychology IS overrated. It's pointless, why not just go for psychiatry? You get paid way more, and you get to prescribe drugs.

sweet...what kinda work have you done so far with that?

hah, you should envy me...I'm a 15 minute train ride away from cold spring harbor national lab. I'm gonna try and get research opportunities there or something,

haha, really not much actual work as of yet, just read a lot of books. I have my first co-op next spring, so that's pretty exciting.

That's so cool. I'd love to go out there for a co-op at some point (I have to do 3). The only real stuff we have around here is the Medical College of Ohio, so I don't have much choice but to go out to the East Coast.

I don't care about the money. All I want to do is help people. So no, it's not pointless.
