No official thread, so here.

Who diggs em?

I just grabbed About A Burning Fire and The Great Depression today. I still think Silence is my favorite from them, but that could easily change.

Was that a shot or just a statement?

Since it came out in like, 2002, that would make sense for ya though i guess.

Any good tracks on that one? I'm not really getting into it atm.

They're last release was an EP last summer, but it wasn't great. IMO the older stuff is better.

Those are the two I've never heard. You should listen to the newer stuff..

I particularly like Silence and About A Burning Fire.

The Great Depression seems more mainstream-oriented.

their first four albums were great, especially Silence and About A Burning Fire, The Great Depression was okay, but it was definitly a step down

yeah his vocals are still some of the best in music, and it's a great album, better than most bands, but not up to Blindsides expectations

Listening to this band right now, forgot how much I liked them.

I'm assuming this band would have a bad reception on AP but who knows...

Their first few albums were kickass.

The Great Depression and the new(est) ep were aright, but I didn't think they chalked up to Silence or About A Burning Fire.

Listening now. Not nearly as bad as I thought they'd be now. Rather enjoying this actually. Very good band.

Blindside was one of my favorite bands in the early 2000's. I absolutely loved Silence. I still listen to it occasionally. They were a very solid live band, as well. I wish they'd come back to the US and tour. Some new music would be nice, too!

I've got Silence and About A Burning Fire. Not my favorite band but definitely worth a good listen. I heard them come on at a party once and I was pretty souped, because generally all I hear at parties is garbage.

How many albums do these guys have?

A Thought Crushed My Mind, Blindside, Silence, About a Burning Fire, The Great Depression, The Black Rose EP

And I'm thinking there's more prior to A Thought Crushed My Mind. ATCMM is definitely not what you'd expect from Silence, AABF.. Quite a bit heavier, and not nearly as much use of melody, though it is worth a listen.

Blindside are apparently playing a show in the US in August:

All I remember about Blindside is:

"I answer with a RESTLESS OK but I'm about to blow when you're gone!"

One of my favorite song openings.

"I'm a vampire! I'm a vampire! I'm afraid the light will set me on FIRE!"

Definitely! I'm excited by that the rumours of a new show in the US means a new album is on the horizon.

Blinside are fantastic! I have seen them twice once with Linkin Park for the PRO tour then later with Mewithoutyou so that was a awesome show. The guys in Blinside are really cool to they stayed around talking to a us for a good while even though they were tired as hell.

Worthy bump. I haven't listened to Blindside in way too long, and this thread has motivated me to do so. Definitely a classic for me, and one that I can still listen to for more than simply nostalgia. "Shekina" defines my summer of 2005 and, as a result, is literally one of my favorite songs ever.

They are playing a date in August. That's why I bumped the thread (see above). It's unconfirmed on their Myspace yet, but they are playing a few Swedish dates. All this to me seems like Blindside will return shortly.

Maybe, since they love in Sweden they might just be doing a couple live shows for some fans.

I really really enjoy it. I truthfully have never listened to The Format before this, so I can't give you a benchmark as compared to that, but I can say that it has some really catchy pop songs and it's an album that I can't really turn off. I finally picked up Hands, and that is the one thing that has turned it off.

That blog definitely made me optimistic as well. The Great Depression was alright, and I liked The Black Rose EP, but I am truthfully hoping they go back to a sound similar to their earlier material.

I'd probably say Hands is the best "heavy" record I've heard all year, even though there hasn't been much that stood out for me so far.

I don't know what it was about The Format, I just never listened to them. But after this fun. record I will most definitely be checking them out.
