View Full Version : Sleep music!

This might've been done, but I couldn't see a similar thread,

Just wondering what people have been falling asleep listening to recently? I tend to listen to odd stuff to get me to sleep so thought I'd share a couple haha.

Anberlin - Cities,
Say Anything - In Defense of the Genre,
Owl City - Maybe I'm Dreaming,
Brand New - Deja Entendu,

Anyone got any "sleep albums"?

I did search, I must've missed that one, don't ask how 'cos I realise how obvious it is now haha.

Anyway I said ALBUMS not songs haha. Kinda different enough maybe?

Nick Drake, Iron & Wine, Leonard Cohen, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Coltrane, The Cinematic Orchestra, Steve Reich, Brian Eno, Brightblack Morning Light, Talk Talk, Fennesz, etc.

Pretty much folkish singer-songwriters, jazz, and ambient/instrumental stuff.

Low, Mazzy Star, most Red House Painters stuff, Spacemen3/Spiritualized, and Harmony Rockets (Mercury Rev side project). Basically anything slow, soft, spacey, and pretty will do the trick. Of course when I'm in the mood, these exact same bands can hold my attention and keep me fascinated.

Worst album to fall asleep to ever (because of the really-soft-to-insanely-loud-and-noisy dynamic that crops up in like half the album.)

These days I often fall asleep to The National - Boxer. It's just a perfect night-at-fall-album.

I've probably fallen asleep to Elliott Smith more nights than any other artist though, and I suspect that number will only continue to climb.

Haha, plus if one of the channels on your amplifier is screwed and you only get the left, that untitled track is SO fucking scary.

I genuinely thought aliens were landing outside my room and trying to reach me through my speakers, what a scary night.
