View Full Version : Subject Choices

Just recently, I gave my OLevels (GSCE's) - I got 5 A's (Biology, Math, English, Chemistry, History) and 1 B (English Literature, Add. Math) and 1 C (Physics).
Thing is for ALevels (Sixth Form) I don't think I want to take the sciences (Physics, Biology, Chemistry) at all. I honestly do not know what made me think about taking them in the first place for my OLevels.
I want to take Business Studies, Law, Math and English Literature.
Would it be really fucking idiotic if I did? Everyone tells me I should just stick with the sciences and math, but quite frankly I don't think I want to.
Anyone go through drastic subject change? Was it horrible/terrible/amazing/life-altering? Opinions?

i don't think you should.
you did well in the sciences according to your grades so just stick with them.
idk if they really bother you and you can't see yourself pursuing a career then change them for sure but you know just make sure its not a regrettable choice.
Olevels? I thought that's what GCSEs were called in the past.
By the way, the sciences for A-level are a lot harder than GCSE as well as Maths. So many A* pupils at GCSE found maths pretty damn hard at A-level. It's crazy.
If you don't want to take a subject, then I wouldn't take it. Since you only do 3/4 subjects, it's horrible stuck with a subject you don't enjoy.
The change doesn't matter at all.
What are you looking to study at uni? And how come you're doing Alevels in the US?

That's true, I just really don't see the point in continuing with them, but everyone tells me it's more recommended for me to just stick with the sciences.
Thank you, though. (:

Yes indeed.
I'm actually in Pakistan for the time being, and I go to private school here, which is why I'm doing OLevels in the first place. I just came last year, and just completed the final GCSE year. I didn't understand half of it myself. It was pretty confusing, switching from high school to such, and in a bout of idiocy I decided to take the three sciences, when presented with subject choices.
And yeah, my friend is doing his ALevels, for sciences and math and he says it's extremely difficult and that GCSE's were child's play compared to it, which makes me even more skeptical seeing as I hate physics to begin with.
If I do change my subjects, that means all the effort I put in last year for the three sciences was nothing but a waste of time.
Yeah but you gained science GCSEs. A lot of people for A-level do completely different and new subjects that they've never done before, e.g. politics, philosophy. You can't possibly carry on with every subject you took for GCSE. Most people took 9/10 subjects when for AS/A level you can only take 4/5 max.
