Anyone want to help me understand this? I'm really confused. I know what torrents are and sites to search for torrents, but other than that I need help.

Download a torrent from a website, open it up after you have installed Azureus and it should open download the file.

I wouldn't use Azureus. Try BitComet. It's much better in my opinion. And also much easier.
