Did anyone see the Documentary "Last Letters Home-Voices of American Troops from the Battlefields of Iraq"? Honestly it was pretty moving. To think kids my age and younger, fight and dying over in Iraq while we are here with no a worry in the world is in a way mind boggling.

And we only get paid about 12 grand a year. Thats the real kicker

Shit man, I didnt know you were in the service. Honestly, as cheesy as it may sound I just want to say Thanks for putting your life on hold to go out and fight for our country. I hope you come home safe along with your fellow Marines. Keep your head up, no matter who thinks of what because of the results of an election, we still support you guys 100% and your safe return home is what we hope for.

I remember reading some of the letters the troops wrote and I couldn't stop myself from crying. It's just so moving.

And I feel exactly the way No Control does, he worded it perfectly.

I don't want to sound like the asshole here, but I'm pretty sure you know what you're getting into when you sign up for the armed forces. Sure, I don't want them dying or anything, but it's just plain stupid to believe that you can sign up and won't have to risk your life at some point. Also, about the 12 grand a year... that's misleading, since if you live on base your housing, basic food, and some other things are paid for.

Thats totally understandable. I knew what I was getting into when i signed up. I signed up for Marine Infantry during a time of war. Thats pretty self explanatory. But unfortunately there are some people looking for some extra cash for college or something like that, that don't understand its the real deal. Thats when things like the Jessica Lynch story happen.

Well yeah, I'll agree. Personally I never really liked recruiters, they'll tell you anything to get you to sign up. But hey, if you knew what you were getting into, I totally respect you. I've got two friends in the Marines, and like two in the Army and they all knew what they were getting into.

I haven't seen the movie, but here's my reason's why it's not that mind boggling to fight at any age:

1.People as young as even 5(as militants) have been reported as casulties in battles dating back for millenia.

2. those who do join often feel the need to support a greater cause, or for the glory of being able to say you've made a difference.

3.some fight for the morals and values they learned as children (I.e. honor, dignity, faith, loyalty, heritage/family honor, etc.)

4. and sadly there's those that join just cause they want to kill somebody else, try and discredit that and your an idiot, read the news.

Anyways I'm in the Corps as well, and I joined for most of those. I always had an intrest in political history like that of the Greeks and Romans, and being in the service I've learned a lot of things about the politics of the military that I probably couldn't learn anywhere else. From what I've learned out here is that everything is mind boggling if you truely think about it. But thats a completely different topic. Anyways, thanks for rooting for us or what not. And to Ibanez, good luck, and god speed. Semper Fi. "To those who fight for it, freedom holds a taste that which the protected will never know."

I have the utmost respect for any armed force. The fact that you would put your own life on the line for something you believe in humbles me, and it makes me grateful. I don't care for the cause of war, and no matter what, you guys should be supported 100%. Anyone that doesn't support the troops doesn't deserve to have the safety you guys provide us.

I hope everything works out for you guys. My best wishes. And thank you.

See I know what you're saying because I studied the same thing too but I dont know it just sucks to see people who havent yet to experience a full life or joining up because they need money for college and putting their lives on the line (though so nobel and I give them the most respect) for our country. But honestly, I do understand why many do, and they have my ut-most respect. Truly. I mean even the Israiles have recruited as young if not younger when being invaded. Basically anyone who could have held a gun they had on the front lines. They were (most of them) farmers. But I understand, a good warrior is not based on age, its on determination and courage, which obviously you and Ibenez have. Good Luck guys. Get home safe.
