View Full Version : Do you like where you live?

Most people would say that colorado is probably the perfect place to live; what with snowboarding and mountains, and culture, (or lack there of). I like it, but i always feel sort of sheltered.
Luckily for me, i live in Boulder. Boulder colorado is one of the most diverse places ive ever witnessed, apart from San Francisco and Paris.
The music here generally is metal though..at least all the local bands i know.
A few are pop punk.

SO onto my question, do you like where you live?

where i live is ok. i live right on a big lake so that is cool. i boat in the summer and ride snowmobiles in the winter, that stuff is cool. but besides that there isnt much to do.

Hey, I have relatives in Boulder, but no one but my dad has ever visited them there. I need to go sometime, it sounds cool. Anyway, I really like where I live. I have never lived in a really big city before, not even in college, so when I moved to DC, and then later to Maryland, it was certainly different. There's so much to do, and I live around whatever I need. So as for now, I definitely like where I live, although I plan to live in Europe sometime in my life, and part of that will probably be in Scotland. But I'm going to get my master's first, but oh well...

half of the things in boulder, i am too young to do.
Since it is a college town, most concerts are at 21 and up venues. :(
it gets sort of frustrating.

I don't necessarily like where I live right now, Ft. Wayne, IN, but it has become home for me so there's a certain happiness that comes around when I've been away for a while and I come back. My biggest beef is that it's a big city, but there's NOTHING to do.

Now in regards to my real hometown, Ferndale, WA, I like it. I never really knew how much I liked it until I moved away. There's not a lot to do in Ferndale exactly, but there's a bigger city, Bellingham, like 15 minutes away. Plus I'm only an hour and 45 minutes away from Seattle and an hour away from Vancouver. There's the ocean and the mountains and it's just GORGEOUS! That's one of the thing I miss the most, the scenery. I miss my mountains. :(

I live in Orlando right now, it's alright, the only problem is that it takes forever to get anywhere and it kills me on gas.

But I used to live in Corpus Christi, Texas and it was one of those places where it's really great to grow up there and everyone is pretty nice, but if you don't leave within 2 years of graduating then your probably going to stay there the rest of your life. Not to mention how many friends of mine who were parents by the time they were 18.

I'd love to live in Southern California. Just because the weather is so much better then it is here in Iowa. I hate winter and having 2 feet of snow on the ground.

I don't like miami weather, in the summer its way too hot and humid and in the winter it just isn't cold at all.

but other than that miami is great.

I really mind the snow here in the midwest, I get really excited for it. I actually wish it was snowing right now. :) But it doesn't snow as much in Washington (at least western WA) as people may think. I can understand how living in a place like that all your life you'd get sick of it, but I love the snow! For at least the first 1-2 weeks. :)

Summers are really humid. and the winters get pretty cold usually somewhere between 5-25 degrees. Lots of old people here too. I'm from the city (and graduated from the largest high school in the state) though so i really dont know anything about farming or that crap. A lot of people think we're a bunch of hicks here. lol But it's not all bad. Music scene is crap, but i get by. I'd much rather live in a place thats warm all year around has a beach.

I will say one thing about Iowa...it is the most boring state to drive through. Right up there with South Dakota. :)

i dont think i could hate where i live any more if i tried. it's in the middle of the countryside, full of farmers and twats. theres nowhere to go other than local pubs and the occasional club. the weather alone makes me want to move... its always raining and cold. the attitudes of the people who live here are really bad, they hate to see people try hard and get successful... i'll leave it there.

bring on university...

well i probably exaggerated (but only a wee bit)... but you get the idea. England is an awesome place on the whole, its just rural areas (like where i live) that are so remote and dull.

I love living in New York. It's just the town I live in sucks ass. I live in a small town where the number of cows outweigh the number of people and there is absolutely nothing to do here for fun, and the music scene basically sucks too. Most of the bands here are hardcore bands that grunt. (I think I had Daniel listen to their music once, he got a good laugh). And the majority of the people that live here are jackasses too. Some of you might have heard me say a thing or two about them from time to time. But the one thing I enjoy about my town is that we are a "quaint" little town that's quite well off. It's almost as if everyone wishes they could live here because of the feel of the place, but once they are actually here they don't want to be here anymore. And my town is about an hour away from Manhattan so the trips down to the city are always awesome.

I love Calgary. I love the mountains, and the weather (most of the time) and the people. Living so close to the mountains is my favourite part of living here. An hour away, we have some of the best boarding in the world.... it's fantastic. I never knew how much I would miss real mountains when I went to Sweden and their "mountains" were like, 800m high :/

The only thing that I didn't like was that the majority of cool things to do required you to be 18. Oh and I still don't like the fact that we don't get many good shows.

That's how I felt when I moved to Indiana...I never new how much I missed the mountains in Washington until I came to Indiana and there were none...not even hills. :P

I know! It was horrible! I remember hearing my friends talk about "the mountain" and I got all excited when we were going and when we got there I realised that it was just a really large mound of ground. Not even a hill.

I also can't comprehend people who say that they've never seen snow before since it's so normal over here.... How can anyone not have snow?!?!

I go to school in Norman, Oklahoma. It's OK. Not much to do here unless you're in a frat/sorority.
My "home" is in Tuscon, AZ now. Never been there but that's where my folks just moved.
Home for me is Peoria, AZ, which is a suburb of Phoenix. It's pretty crappy but I miss it.

i live in gainesville for school, and orlando when i'm not in school.
i don't really like gainesville, apart from the fact all my friends are here, and there's a good number of things to do here.. but the traffic sucks because there are way too many people living in such a small area, and anytime something's going on, there's a billion people there.
i like orlando, except for the fact i don't know that many people, it costs too much money to do anything fun, and like anthony said.. it takes forever to get somewhere. plus the drivers are CRAZY, mostly because they don't know where they're going.. especially where i live, because i live on the south side of town where all the theme parks and malls are.

i do want to live in florida though, i mean i'd like to move somewhere else for a little while like chicago or nyc, but i think in the end i'll end up moving back here, probably to jacksonville or orlando or maybe even further south, like miami or the keys. i love it here.

I know the feeling. Maybe 80,000 people (30,000 students who don't really live here included) live in Norman but the traffic is way worse than in Phoenix (the 6th largest city in America). Go figure.

Toledo, where I go to school, is not too bad. The only complaints I have about here are that no bands come through except the occasional kickass regional band (i.e. Thunderbirds are Now!) and everything seems to close early. I generally like Columbus better since it's my home and a bigger city, but even so I still live on the south end there so it takes some driving to do something cool sometimes. I want to live in the UK so bad it's killing me. I'd also like to experience the Keys, Southern California, NYC, and Hong Kong (or Tokyo) sometime in my life.

I live in two towns, kind of. they're separated by a river, each one is in a different state but they share lots of things, and all the people go back and forth like crazy cos most people work in one and live in the other or something like that... So i live in Albury, technically, but it's joined to wodonga. i like it here, we have pretty much everything you'd want without it being too big, you can go out to the pubs or clubs on a saturday night and wake up sunday morning to the birds chirping outside... it's great. :)
as for music, we have a great underground metal scene that comes out for gigs... there's punks about, and we get some decent australian and nz acts coming through, not the big ones but semi-famous ones, yeh.

I live one of the top 2 or 3 richest areas in my whole country. I'm not especially loaded (especially relative to most of the people near me), but we have it pretty good here. We have our little social-local bubble, we don't have any real problems. *shrugs* Still can't wait to go away to Uni tho.
