So obviously, everyone's listening patterns change constantly. I'm bored - so here's a random thread.
What are you currently really into in the last few days? Stuff that you're listening to basically constantly and are so glad that you have. The new hot albums for ya if you will.
I'm really into
The Music - Welcome To The North
this band is incredible. I absolutely love them. It's like U2 meets Oasis. Tremendous.
U2 - How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
Speaking of U2, I absolutely love them. If you hate the single, check this out anyway. Most of it is softer acoustic material.
The (International) Noise Conspiracy - Armed Love
I don't know why I didn't check this release out earlier. I love their older material. Anyway, it's a bit more produced than their earlier stuff, but it's still great.
I'm also randomly really into Billy Talent, Trail of Dead, and Mars Volta again lately as well.

Pretty Girls Make Graves - The New Romance
and
a Death Cab For Cutie mix my friend made me which has mostly songs from Transatlanticism.
I saw them on the 3rd which was very awesome even though i had to leave early.

Well, they're not new albums or anything, but the records i've been spinning the most lately have been:
The Pietasters - Willis
[catchy, upbeat, fun. what more can you ask for from a ska band ?]
Buck-O-Nine - Twenty-Eight Teeth
[some of my favourite songs ever are on this album. i think that's saying enough.]
The Aquabats - Fury of the Aquabats
[so stupid it's hilarious. not to mention, they have songs that are nearly impossible to get out of your head. awesome band.]

About 99% ska i'd say.
- Say Anything - Is A Real Boy
Brilliant album, Bemis is a genius. My favorite of the year (this along with Northstar - Pollyanna).
- Codeseven - Danceing Echoes/Dead Souls
My current driving CD. Lovely lyrics, beautiful melodies, wonderful ablum. Going to be high up on best albums of the year.
- Releint K - Mmhmm
The last RK album Two Lefts was really bad. I lost most hope in this band until I heard they were gonna be releasing a new album. This new album rocks. I've been pulling it out countlessly and listening to the awesomeness. Another contender for top 10 albums of the year.

I've been listening to tonsss of Howie Day and Saves the Day lately
Howie Day? Haha, my mom likes him.
Interpol - I've been listening to Antics and Turn On the Bright Lights constantly.
Between the Buried and Me - The Silent Circus. It's agressive but also has some very melodic parts. Just a good album.
Jeff Buckley - Grace. If you don't like this album then you should kill yourself.
Strung Out - I love them and the new album isn't half bad, but I don't like it as much as their older stuff.
Bright Eyes - Lifted... Yeah. I like it.
jimmy eat world - futures (for obvious reasons)
armor for sleep - dream to make believe (i listened to this album for the first time last week)
emanuel - soundtrack to a headrush (i've been stuck on them since january)

Most recently it has been pretty much anything and everything Thursday. I'm learning all of their guitar stuff at the moment so I've been listening to it nearly constantly. Beyond that though, Jimmy Eat World, but I always listen to them constantly so I'm not sure that counts.

In completely unrelated news - I vote for a Cure cover album with GOOD bands on it.
Like that Get Up Kids cover? Fucking amazing. Anberlin? 311? These things are golden. Smashing Pumpkins? I mean holy shit.
Everyone loves/covers The Cure, so where is the ultimate fucking cover album?

Even though I'm a christian, I normally despise christian music cause how cheeesey it is, or how it lacks talent. Yet this cd pushes the stereotype quality far away.
Agreed. I have always loved these guys, they are one my all time favorite bands. This album is easily in my top 5 this year.

Speaking of cover albums, who else was disappointed that Taking Back Sunday weren't on the The Police cover album doing "Message In A Bottle?"

I love The Cure as much as the next guy, but I've never been able to find a good cover album for The Smiths.

There are no good cover albums for The Smiths, goddamnit. But there are a few tunes I've gleaned from here and there that are good. I'll share the wisdom:
Death Cab for Cutie - This Charming Man
Braid - This Charming Man
Braid - There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
Stars - This Charming Man
Cursive - Frankly Mr. Shankly
Supergrass - Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others
Anyways, as to my current obsessions, well I guess I have a few:
Bloc Party (awesome new band)
Despistado - This Emergency Response EP
Bright Eyes - Digital Ash In A Digital Urn (way better on second listen)
The Hives - Tyrannosaurus Hives (I don't see how this couldn't get best punk album of 2004 by anyone)
The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin (BRILLIANT)
Death From Above 1979 - You're A Woman, I'm A Machine (still... goddamn it's good)
And, lest I forget,
Cursive - The Storms of Early Summer: Semantics of Song

How was "Two Lefts" really bad? Its similiar to the new album in so many ways. They both have lots of piano use in them. Defintely stepped it up in both albums...

Relient K - I've seen this band live SEVEN times. I loved them dearly until Two Lefts... I lost alot of faith and thought they had been victimized by the 12 year old girl scene. MmHmm is an amazing pop album. Life After Death and Taxes is one of my songs of the year for sure.
Cowalker - Sweet local band. They perform one of the greatest songs ever called Kali. Go to www.cowalker.com and download it. I promise you won't regret it.
Say Anything - Much like when I first fell in love with Deja Entendu everytime I listen to this record, I swear I find another thing I love whether it be a lyric, a lick, or whatever.

All the songs in Two Lefts drug on FAR too long and In Love With the 80s is a really annoying song. Also, the songs just seemed to chug along. Blame it on my short attention span but after the beauty of The Anatomy... my expectations were way high and Two Lefts just seemed to be following the pattern set up by The Anatomy (acoustic ballad, heavier 'darker' track, etc.). I can't explain it, but its a subpar album. MmHmm blows it out of the water.
Tyler Revolution

This is how the order of their albums goes, from best to worst:
1. Two Lefts...
2. MmHmm
3. Self-Titled
4. The Anatomy
But, I love all of their cds with passion. That is the order that I like them in, but I don't like one of their cds much more than the next. And I don't think that Two Lefts sounds much different than MmHmm. It all sounds like good ol' Relient K to me.
