Kerrang Magazine (www.kerrang.com) has a short article on Emanuel (www.thisisemanuel.com) that you can read right here (http://vagrant.com/newmedia/emankerrang.jpg). Who else thinks signing this band was the best move Vagrant Records (www.vagrant.com) ever made?

Are you kidding me? The label that signed The Get Up Kids, Hot Rod Circuit, Saves the Day, and Alkaline Trio?
Gimme a break.

No, I think the best move Vagrant ever made was when Rich's parents put a 2nd mortgage on their home to pay for the signing and release of "Something To Write Home About"

I love this band. Vagrant made a great choice signing this band for sure. They had to make up for the previous signing they made i guess.

Yeah, the label who signed Senses Fail, No Motiv, New Amsterdams and Dashboard Confessional. WHho also has washed up bands such as Alk3 (the band who never does anything anymore and who's drummer plays in Good Charlotte), Saves the day (who's gone through about 10 members and who's best days are long gone), and The Get Up Kids (who's drummer tried out for finch, and keyboardist is now in NFG and who's two latest CD's sold terribly)...yeah, that label.

this gets my vote. without that album, a bunch of people reading this forum wouldn't be reading this forum. myself included.

Saves the day (who's gone through about 10 members and who's best days are long gone).
they've admitted in reverie was a big mess though, so i still have very high hopes for their upcoming cd.

and yeah, i found the advance of the cd on soulseek from some person who actually has a few big advances (bright yes digital ash in a digital urn and acceptance phantoms). i'm just waiting for it to start downloading. i'm hoping it's as good as everyone says. i love their newly recorded songs from the fiddler comp, but i really hate their old ep.

Ok, I never said signing Senses Fail and No Motiv were good moves, nor did I ever say they were better than signing Emanuel. I don't even care to talk about The New Amsterdams (although I love "Worse for the Wear"), or Dashboard Confessional (their drive-thru full-length debut was probably their only really good CD).

Who cares if bands are so-called "washed-up"? Their best moves at each point in time had to be signing Saves the Day after hearing "Through Being Cool", signing Alkaline Trio, who went on to write "From Here to Infirmary", and signing The Get Up Kids, who then wrote and recorded "Something to Write Home About" (that thing about the 2nd mortgage was pretty righteous).

Alkaline Trio's never done anything?! They wrote and recorded 6 songs for a split, recorded a couple for compilations. For goodness freakin' gracious, the frontman broke wrist, give 'em a break, now, haha.

Saves the Day might not have had their best outing with "In Reverie", but I love the songwriting on it. But yeah, touche on the member thing, I hope for the best for their new one.

The Get Up Kids...shame on you arcadian for putting them down for selling poorly. Ok, from a business standpoint, I can see it being a bad move because they didn't sell as well, but On a Wire is brilliant, even if it's not typical TGUK fare.

And anyway, what do these bands "washing-ups" have anything to do with Vagrant's best/worst moves.

The 2nd mortgage thing for The Get Up Kids gets my vote.

It's said that a company's best move is always the one which saves them when needed. Honestly, right now, Vagrant needed to be saved. A lot of their bands are older and they needed a new/young band to keep their name in the business. I never once said Emanuel was the bst signing, I just simply stated that signing them was the best move they coudlve made. They were in dire need of a fresh sounding band, Emanuel is the one and emanuel is the savior to a label that has a reputation for old timers.

Wow, well said. I think I'll be giving Emanuel another look if you truly believe they'll save the label. You're right, they do need a young face. I really do like Down to Earth Approach; I really think Vagrant needs to put more into them.

is their ep only sold at shows and with vagrant orders? or will you be able to purchase it online at some point?

it's not being sold anywhere. i found it on soulseek after searching for a long time and it's not worth having. i'm guessing it's all demos, i don't know.

** i just realized you must be talking about the ep vagrant is giving away or whatever, so scratch that
