Sean Penn did look skinnier than usual.
It's weird to see a trailer for this because you can tell it's going to be more commercial than his (GVS) last four films.
Wish Paranoid Park was out. I want to see it again.
I didn't see Paranoid Park but I loved Elephant, the ending was so brutal.
drudo182

Elephant is wonderful. I'd rank PP right after it when talking about his last four.

James Franco did a hilarious interview, with Jimmy Kimmel I think, and he tells some stories about being on set. You guys should check it out if you haven't already watched in.
Alright I saw it today and have to say it was one of the most beautifully executed biographies I have ever seen.
Simply astounding. Gus Van Sant deserves an Oscar nod for his directing in this.
It brought me to tears when the obvious & tragic happens. More so because of how attached we've become Penn's portrayal of Milk. There's this music that plays just before the credits, it's just such a majestic & graceful point on the exclamation that was this man's life.
Without hesitation I'd call this Gus Van Sant's greatest work.
Harvey's shooting is shown in all it's gruesomeness, yet in such a graceful manner. It shows us how tragic and cruel this world can be when bigotry acts. This man we love murdered in in front of our eyes.
The stock footage blends in perfectly with the flow of the film. Every actor shines. They become their characters.
I hope many people see this and become empowered to speak for the unspoken. This is a film for the American voice.

Milk is a wide release though. I have no idea why they're not showing it here.
It's technically not a wide release until next weekend when it's over at least 600 screens. I guess it only added like 200 or something this week.
You'll just have to do what I am doing, and see the new Punisher film.

not boring at all. saw it tonight. far from boring. i would consider the pacing of this one of it's strengths. if you don't like this film, you dont like biopics. as for biopics in general - this was top of the line in that genre. with that said, this is not better than a couple of other movies i have seen this year (let the right one in, dark knight).

What do you mean it's obvious they shouldn't get banned for breaking the rules of the website? When did this become moderating by jury? Stop being so melodramatic. You're comparing a message board to genocide? What the fuck is wrong with you?

I went to the first showing of Milk in Vermont, which was tabled by VT Freedom to Marry. It was an awesome event, as well as probably the highest percentage of gay people in a movie theatre in Vermont history. Ended up walking out with an awesome t-shirt and hat for free, as well as a new job, haha.
Thought the movie was very good. To me, it was very comparable to Ray, only it was a subject I absolutely loved. When I saw Ray the first time, I knew Foxx was incredible, that the movie was pretty good, and that I wasn't a huge Ray Charles fan. This time around, I thought Penn was brilliant, the movie was pretty good, and that anything political I fall in love with.
Certainly not my movie of year, but very good.
Also, the previews for The Wrestler and Gran Tornio that ran before this movie blew my mind, most convincing trailers ever.
