Ok, so i thought id share this with ap even if for the lols. Back in feb i got a myspace message from someone in AZ saying that i was their boyfriend... Obviously ive never even met this person and just ignored it, but then in march i got another person from MI who said the same thing. I got curious and messaged them back, he sent me a link to a photobucket, that had all the pictures from my friends myspace, my myspace, my facebook and my friends facebook that had me in them.

Someone was pretending to be me and dating people from the internet. I thought it was fucked up, I was legit scared because this person had been doing this. My myspace and my facebook are private and im not stupid enough to give out my password to anyone. Its not a friend either because i know all my friends on facebook/myspace personally. I guess this person made a pretty fucked up story and told people that i didnt have a myspace/facebook so they wouldn't contact me.

I let it go until now because it stopped, but i was just alerted he got more pictures on the photobucket. I dont know what to do, so i thought i would ask you guys what you think, or your comments about this.

what difference does it make? you didn't have your credit card or anything taken. just pictures.

It's still sketchy as fuck for someone to pretend they are me and trick people into thinking so.

I've actually gotten real identity theft.

So when it really fucks up your life let me know.

ya so it iznt ID theft of legal ramifications [xcept possibly stalking]
ive been in a similar situation, and itz reallly creepy, and at the verrrrry least, itz annoying as hell,
and my sympathies, cuz people like that r usually just one step away from extreme stalkerism, and good luck

oh and this iz to the people that think imitation/stalking is the greatest form of flattery:
W8 TILL u hav 5+ stalkers [real people- not internet creeps] that decide to gang up,
then tell me wat u think!?!!

My story:

I guess people don't want to steal my identity or use my pictures, I'm ok with that.
One day I got a message on friend request/myspace from a 'girl' saying all like "hi and I think you cute, blah blah blah want to be texting buddies" so of course I told her I only give out my number to people I know.

The next day I checked my inbox, and that same profile had a guy's picture, new about me, and was changed from "female" to "male"

I'd take that as a compilment. You must be pretty damn good looking for someone to wish they were you to get girls. It could be a friend of a friend or a friends sibling.

Just so you know, it is illegal. The easiest way to deal with fakers on the internet is to go directly to the website on which they are impersonating you and contact the website administrators or staff directly. They have tools to help keep him off their sites. Especially places like MySpace (Who also owns Photobucket), Facebook, etc. While there are no sure-fire ways to protect anything you put on the internet from becoming subject to misuse, there are laws that can be taken advantage of. Copyright, for one. Most websites have a policy against content infringing copyright and have a "no questions" stance towards disputes.

Contact MySpace, show them the link to the person's account, then send them a "Photo Salute" - they will look at his entire account history and have more than enough information from him, his IP, ISP, and personal history to keep him from coming back and doing it again - at least on MySpace.

This happens a lot more than you'd think. Especially to girls.
