in history last year we learned about the drugs being made in third world countries that are basically knock offs of the normal high priced drugs that combat aids and other noncurable diseases. most of the big pharmaceutical companies are flipping out because these countries are selling the drugs for less and taking profits from them. they say they need the profits to look for a better cure and more potent medicine while third world countries answer with the fact that the high price means that most people cannot receive the amount they need. i wanted to know what everyones take on this was. if prices should stay high so that they can look for a cure of if the knock off drugs are a good idea.

Nah, the high prices are horrible. A lot of old people go to my church and they say they can't afford the majority of medicines they need to go through the day without having pain, nevermind fighting off whatever it is they have.

Important drugs such as those to help patients with AIDS worldwide or malaria or deadly diseases should definetly become less expensive, or at least governments should be allowed to make "knock off" drugs in countries where the vast majority of the population can't afford them, which is in most of the world anyway. After all, governments DO have the money to support drug research without having to steal civilians of their money, and if the state really wants to improve the health of its citizens, it has the power to do so. The governments (plural, as, although many of you guys on here are from the states, I'm living in Europe and originally from Africa) should be ready to dedicate more of the budget to health rather than arms expenditures (not mentioning any names... the US).
