View Full Version : Caring for a new piercing

I just got an industrial in my right ear, and I'm wondering how exactly I should go about taking care of it. I already have a cartilage piercing (a ring) in my left ear, but it was pretty easy to handle. The industrial, though, is a total bitch, and it hurts like a motherfucker. Any advice (especially from those who have this piercing) would be greatly appreciated.

This may be a stupid question, but...
...what's an industrial?

It's a bar that runs across your upper ear. One hole is right about where the uppermost part of your ear is, and the other is just below the outermost part, so it runs sort of diagonally across your ear. If you use Google Images to search for "industrial piercing," you can find a few examples there.

Ah, I think those are cool...I've thought about getting that done before, but, I probably won't. :)

Painful. Very, very painful. Standard gauge is 14, and getting two 14 gauge piercings in your cartilage and having a bar inserted is a terrible, terrible experience. After that, it's just a couple months of avoiding anything or anybody touching it, being extra careful when you dress or undress, and sleeping uncomfortably.
The sacrifices we make for counter-culture beauty.

Hm, maybe not. I don't have any tattoos or piercings (well, my ears are pierced, but that was like 6+ years ago and I don't wear anything in them).
I'm boring. :)

I'd love an idustrial.
But I'm a pussy.
