nope. i will never see NFG ever again. i already saw them play their best show ever. and anything else would just not live up to it

they won't do many requests during tours. they already have a setlist for the entire tour

I know for a fact that if you ask Chad before the show to play a certain song, he will try his damndest to make it happen. I've done it and friends of mine have done it.

I've been to multiple shows on a tour they've done quite a few times, and the only time I've ever seen them repeat a setlist was on the Civic Tour in 2003. Most I've been to was 4 shows in a short period, and they played 4 different sets.

EDIT: to answer the original post, I'm going to Santa Cruz and Petaluma... I'll try to post sets after each one.

I'm debating whether I should go to this or not. I'm not a huge fan of any of the bands but they are all suppose to be good live and I like some A Day To Remember so I may end up going, could never get into 4 Year Strong but I may try giving them another listen.

yea my friend mentioned that to me. i wonder what they mean, i am mean almost all of their songs are pretty fast. i hope they mean old and fast. that would be sweet if its a throw back tour with a lot of NGCS and Self Titled songs getting play.

I NEED to go to this. I haven't seen them in a year and I'm dying. Best live show out there. I hope that quote on their myspace means more NGCS. That'd fantastic. I have to drive 2 hours to this and I have no money but I'm going to make it happen somehow. Too bad I don't know the other bands on the tour.

I think part of the point was for them to headline places they never get to play or haven't played in awhile. Which makes the choice of Santa Cruz weird because they were there last November.

NFG is always worth a drive :)

Alright kids, go crazy.

September 11th, Bakersfield, Ca -- The Dome

NFG:

- At Least I'm Known...
- Understatement
- Vegas
- Tip of the Iceberg
- Singled Out
- This Disaster
- No Reason Why
- All Downhill
- Never Give Up
- All About Her
- Nothing Gold
- Forget My Name
- Better Off Dead
- Cut The Tension
- Something I Call...
- Truth of My Youth
- The Ballad of Lost Romantics
- My Friends Over You

Encore:

- Dig My Own Grave
- Intro
- Hit or Miss

I might be missing one song from the encore. I forgot to jot it down.

Not bad for a tour kickoff. ADTR definitely brought in the crowd, which was kind of sad to see since a good handful of kids left when NFG came on. But they had a pretty solid set nonetheless. What's up with no songs from Coming Home? I was expecting at least "Hold My Hand."

I don't know if I heard Chad correctly tonight. But he was talking about a new release being on Epitaph? Someone please confirm this.

Four Year Strong was hard to hear, which seems to be an on-going pattern every time I see them.

(not in order; I might be missing one song. They did a cover too.)
- Prepare to Be...
- Abandon Ship
- Catastrophe
- Men are From Mars
- Bada Bing
- Beatdown in the Key
- Maniac
- Heroes

A Day to Remember was alright. It's been the same set for the past couple of times. So.

(not in order; again, not the whole set. I might've missed a song or two.)
- Fast Forward...
- Monument
- Danger in Starting...
- A Shot...
- Heres to the Past
- Since U Been Gone
- Why Walk...
- The Plot...

Crime in Stereo was solid. I've never seen them so it was fun to watch.

As for International Superheroes of Hardcore, expect greatness. Haha, they were awesome and hilarious. So many kids got off on them. It was definitely entertaining. They did most of the songs from the album, minus maybe 2 or 3 - "Hardcore Hokey Pokey" and "Dr. Jones..." (?).

That's all I've got.

just-in.
09/12/08, 05:20 AM

solid sets from all bands, I do want to know what Crime In Stereo is playing though.

Highlights: At Least I'm Known For Something, All About Her, Ballad, Vegas.

I wish FYS would still play Wrecked Em'

and ADTR Show Em' The Ropes.

Greg
09/12/08, 06:11 AM

i think nowadays if you get any NGCS you are lucky. last time i saw them play a 20 song set we didnt even get 1. but we had like 5 songs from FTSTYS2, which always ticks me off. i mean those songs are fun but i would take 1 NGCS song over any cover song anyday.

They asked us which NGCS song we wanted to hear, and the entire crowd yelled out different songs so Chad named off the ones they "knew how to play" (I think it was Passing Time, 2's & 3's, Never Snows in Florida, and 3rd & Long), and then it came down to two songs and they ended up asking A Day To Remember which one they wanted.

That was my first time at the Phoenix. My friends had been telling me there wasn't a barricade there and all this stuff and we go in and there was a barricade that looked like it was made in a metalshop class and was kinda painful to hold onto during the show.

I liked it though, wouldn't be opposed to going back up there.

NFG have the the same sound on all of their records essentially. they do change some things but at the end of the day they play pop punk on pretty much every song. to me if you like one record you should like all the others. i can understand not digging certain songs, but to dismiss full albums is just really weird to me. i don't get that at all. these sets we have seen coming from these shows are amazing. the fact they play from all their albums is something a lot of bands do not do it seems like. there are good reasons for it i am sure, but it is dam refreshing when one of the bands you have listened to since 2000 still care about the music they made then just as much as the music they make now. it makes for a great live show experience. you just confuse me greatly haha

Greg, clearly, he is a moron. "sticks & stones" was the s/t part 2, how someone could like one and not the other is mind boggling.

the only album of theirs I don't love and I can see others not loving is "coming home" because it lacked a lot of the energy of their first 4 albums and had a lot of sappy-pappy emoish songs on it and the second half of the album is just mediocre.

but for my money, "on my mind" and "make your move" are 2 of the best songs they've ever written and "hold my hand" is solid as well.

Just overall, I didn't think it was as good and lacked a bit of the pop punk punch of their first 4 albums, the lyrics were a bit more trite too, which was a bummer because I thought they had broken some new ground lyrically on songs like "truth of my youth" on catalyst, only to fall back to

"i'm gonna make love to you baby we'll be connected, your always on my mind so make your move and hold my hand, you're my oxygen, you have my heart in your hands, so i'm coming home to you again, i'm taken back by you, love and pain baby, love and pain"

I'm a huge NFG fan and it'll be like my 15th time seeing them next week. I don't understand how if one likes Sticks and Stones one doesn't like the self-titled album or NGCS. Personally I think that with Catalyst the music started going downhill. (No pun intended) There are certain songs off Catalyst and Coming Home that I love and will listen to, but I can't listen to the entire CD without skipping any songs like I can NGCS, the self-titled and Sticks and Stones. But everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

the covers album should be left to the album...i mean, hearing "glory of love" and "never ending story" back in 2000 and shit was a lot of fun, but they have waaaay too many good songs anymore to waste set time with a movie cover, but at least its not like last summers tour with Senses Fail when they were playing like 5 covers at every show.

I first saw NFG in September 2000, they were opening for Fenix TX. Good Charlotte opened the show and played before NFG.

The set was awesome and included "you've got a friend in PA" and "second to last". I've also seen "2's and 3's", "it will never snow in florida", "winter of 95", "3rd and long" and "passing time" live.

The guys usually try to switch up their setlist every few nights. There are some songs that they will always play no matter what: (Hit or Miss, My Friends Over You, All Downhill, Understatement). If you have a song you want to hear either try to meet up with one of the guys before the shows, they're usually hanging outside or around the venue before the show, or yell a request to them while they're on stage if you're close enough. If it's a song that they're used to playing they usually play it.

FYS's setlist was the same it has been for a while, just in a strange order, they played The Takeover second, and Maniac in the middle of the set? that caught me off guard

NFG's nothing gold song was 3rd and Long, and I couldn't have been more pleased.

ADTR played You Should've Killed Me When You Had the Chance and Show Em' the Ropes, which was great.

awesome, awesome show.

God I'm so upset that I had to miss the St.Louis show but I just couldn't afford making a 5 hour trip and staying the night somewhere and neither could any of my friends.

I would absolutely kill to see Situations and 3rd And Long :(

the love for crimeinstereo
here is scarce..I hope I don't get there late bc they're opening.

"is dead" was my favorite cd of 2007. next to "sometimes things just disappear" from polar bear club.

speaking of, I believe one of the dates on this tour is a combined show with polar bear club and the gaslight anthem. that rules.

i love love crime in stereo. they were the only band besides nfg that i wanted to see.

WHAT SONGS HAS CRIME IN STEREO BEEN PLAYING?

I can give you an idea of what songs they play after Sunday's show. This will be the 5th time I will have seen them this year and they mostly play a mix of Is Dead and the Troubled Stateside. The songs they seem to play the most are XXXX, But You are Vast, Small Skeletal, Sudan, Gravity/Grace, and I, Stateside. The rest they have changed up often.

Shit, NFG moved to a huge ass venue that's a night club, so that means 1) shorter sets and 2) way too crowded

They went from a hole in the wall 150-200 person venue, to a 500+ person venue... weak sauce.

i want NFG to play the story so far.

but i know it wont happen since it's faster songs.

i know a bunch of scene kids are going from my town just to see A Day To Remember.
i hope I arrive at the end of their set.
their overused hardcore guitar riffs(i.e. hawthorne heights) just sound too generic.

i guess its just because the younger scene kids never listened to the older bands and it sounds new to them. just like All Time Low.

id rather FYS having the spot before NFG

PITTSBURGH SHOW 9/23

CRIME IN STEREO
don't know any of their songs, they played the ones with the screamoemocore hard parts and then the softer parts and the songs that sound like finch and thursday covers. they were 16 years old.

ISHOHC
while I love NFG, this shit got old after one song and is pretty terrible

FOUR YEAR STRONG
kicked ass, but sound was shitty, cymbols and guitars were mic'd too loud, bass drum couldn't be heard nor could the secondary singer/bass player guy. Also, their lead singer seemd to yell/shout the vocals moreso than on the CD, he sounds more like chuck ragan from hot water music live than the poppy version of himself on RODT.

regardless, they played (pretty sure this is the right order):
prepare to be digitally manipulated
the takeover
beatdown in the key of happy
catastrophe
fast forward cover song
men are from mars women are from venus
maniac
abandon ship or abandon all hope
bada bing wit a pipe
heroes get remembered legends never die

A Day To Rememember
A. should not be playing after FYS
B. have lameass fans
C. are good except when they play that song with the hardcore part with the cookie monsters screams and then the poppier finch parts. oh wait, that was all their songs.

also...I thought the whole "girl jeans" thing was more of a rumor or something...i don't know..i'm 28 so its hard for me to relate to the kids anymore, i mean, when i was 18, if you wore womens capris, you probably deserved to be made fun of by your friends for the rest of your life, but now, i saw a dude with the lamest panic! at the barber shop hair cut and female capri pants and he looked belumic. you kids need to start eating more and wear mens pants please. i was glad when most of these scenster nerds left after ADTR.

also, put your fucking cell phones down, if i have to tell one more punk ass kid to stop recording the show on his blackberry (and why do you kids have blackberrys?) and shit recording these shows need to stop and enjoy the show and stop having their damn cameras trying to record everything so they can post the poor quality bootleg on youtube or whatever, its stupid and i hate you for doing this.

'98 was way cooler...when baggy pants were today's girl jeans and bleached spiked hair was the stupid bangs in yoru eyes panic! at the barber shop haircuts of today. and guys ate food back then too.

also, why are all the band merch t shirt designs so cartoony?

also, i think its funny about sXe kids, i mean of course you don't have sex or do drugs or drink , you're 15, wait til you're in college and those same sXe kids will be boning chicks and doing drugs like everyone else. for every Chad, who is sXe for life, there's 100 kids doing it to be cool cuz they're young then grow out of it by 21 or around the time a girl is actually willing to sleep with them and they don't have to pretend that its sXe keeping them a virgin anymore.

ok enough bitching about how much i can't stand the 14-20 year old age bracket.

NEW FOUND GLORY
effectively blew all other bands out of the water within i don't know, 8 seconds of their opening song. here's the set.

not in order other than the first few, closing song and encore

At least i'm known for something other than beating the emocore genre to death like the band that played before us

yea man, i was there and bummed they didn't play a NGCS song or "situations", BUT, hearing "Vegas" for the first time in 8 years was awesome and "all about her" isn't all that common either I suppose.

And luckily I've heard 3rd and long, passing time, friend in PA, snow in florida, 2's and 3's, winter of 95 before so I wasn't too too dissapointed...but yea, sucks that the Burgh appears to be one of the only shows on the tour w/o a NGCS song so far. what do you know about being straight edge you ignorant little prick?

straight edge is a philosophy and a way of life that you can't even begin to comprehend. sure, there's always going to be trendy people in every group of society, doing it for the trend. but you know nothing about what it truly means to be straight edge, so don't talk shit like that for no good reason.

if these kids want to not smoke and drink and do drugs because they are being trendy, fine. whats so wrong with that? it's better than getting drunk and high to be cool like you obviously did when you were younger.

fuck you man. don't go running your mouth about a way of life you know nothing about.

Nah, Dopeman's right. The whole sXe thing as well as the whole vegan thing are just rediculous and trendy in today's "scene". Maybe this is the way of the future. Perhaps cussing will cost you a ticket, we'll wipe our asses with seashells, and Taco Bell will be last food chain standing. Where's Simon Phoenix when you need him, or are half of the kids on here too young to know who he is?
