So how did you guys find Cove?

Beau: At first we had been auditioning singers and 9 times out of 10 they would be absolutely horrible, so we finally decided to just tell people that were interested to send in demos.

Cove: I map quested the address they gave me and kept emailing them telling them that I only lived 30 minutes away and wanted to try out in person, but since that wasn’t working, I finally just sent in a demo.

Beau: Yeah, when we received his demo, we thought it was Anthony playing a sick joke on us. So we had him come down to the studio to see what his style was and what his voice sounded like recorded. We didn’t tell Cove that the song that we were having him record happened to be a song for the Smartpunk.com compilation.

Who wrote the lyrics to “Bury Your Head”?

Cove: It was a collaborative process with Chris.

Chris: Yeah, we just sat down together and wrote the stuff. Cove would be singing, and I would write down what I thought he was singing, and he would look them over and change some of the words around, it worked out pretty well.

You guys are about to start on the full-length, is there a title yet?

Beau: Nope

What has it been like to have such a huge following?

Beau: It’s awesome. I’m amazed at how many people have stuck around and supported us through out everything that’s been going on. And it’s such a great feeling to see all the kids coming out to the shows to see us.

So has anyone in the band heard from Anthony since he left?

Beau: Yeah, he actually came out to one of our shows earlier this tour, but other than that we hadn’t really talked to him since he left the band.

Cove: I shook his hand and he congratulated me, which was kind of awkward. He called me after that too, which was a little weird, but it’s all good.

How did he leave the band?

Beau: We were all going to the airport to pick him up three days before we left to go on tour. When we called him to ask what gate he was at, he told us that he wasn’t coming. We all took it as a joke and said “No, really dude. What gate are you at.” He said he wasn’t happy with the music and didn’t really want to be a part of it anymore.

So, everyone wants to know, are you going to get signed, and if so are there any labels your looking at?

Beau: We are going to wait until we get back home before we do sign anything, but we definitely have a few record labels we are looking at.

What are you guys listening to these days?

Cove: I’ve been listening to a lot of the new The Used album, Taking Back Sunday, but I usually just listen to whatever the rest of the band is listening to in the van. OH! And what about our tour song, what is it?

Beau: Stevie Nicks! I think the song is called “One Winged Dove” or something like that. It’s so rock and roll. Expect to see a cover of that soon, ha-ha. I’ve also been listening to a lot of Candiria lately, In Flames, and of course 3rd Eye Blind.

Is B2C going to come out with a full-length?

Beau: Actually, yeah we want to work on it more. We want to have a bunch of guest appearances with bands you wouldn’t expect to hear rap. I’m not sure when we will get around to it but it’s definitely something we want to do more with.

What is Boostikaka?

Beau: You want to take this one Chris?

Chris: Well, Boostikaka is my alias. I am known as many things like Boosti millionaire, etc.

Well, is there anything else you guys would like to say to all the kids out there in Absolutepunk.net land?

Beau: Thank you for everything, thank you for sticking around. The fact that people are still supportive of us after a year of inactivity and also supportive of Cove is really awesome. The main thing we we’re afraid of was people not taking to Cove, but you guys have really embraced him and for that we thank you.

Cove: I will buy anything from homeless people!

Beau: Ha-ha, yeah he just bought a box of nails from a homeless guy the other night.

Cove: Yeah, see this shirt I’m wearing. I bought it from that guy. I bought two of them actually and gave one of them away. And then bought the box of nails.

agreed, my friend. he was really cool to us.

oh, and now that anthony is not around to climb into everyone's ass about the name of the band, its pronounced Say-Oh-Sin, or Say-Ocean, or Say-something-that-seems-like-it-would-make-sense. just call it what you want. they personally pronounce it Say-Oh-Sin now, though.

that's not to say that i don't love anthony.

what is so hard to grasp here. i just explained it. since anthony was the only one who was so worried about the pronunciation of the band's name, they did away with SAY-OCEAN as they did away with anthony. the band now, themselves, pronounce it Say-Oh-Sin...i heard it at a show myself last week, and i have videos from other shows during the tour. the name is now Say-Oh-Sin, so everyone stop losing sleep.

I'm been pronouncing it "say-oh-zin" since I first heard of them. It just rolls off the tongue much easier than "say-ocean."

So this is pretty interesting. Basically what happened, is I grew up in Hawaii with this kid named Braxton who had been playing in punk bands growing up there. I moved to california and he would aim me all the time asking how it was, and i was like, "its amazing, you can see so many bands everynight" because in hawaii we got maybe 2 really good bands a year and that was that. so long story short, he came to So Cal and started going to an art/music school where he met Zach. Zach had just left Saosin due to some personal reasons and during this moment, i met Ray Brady who was a guitar player for Jessica Simspon and was also doing stuff with the black eyed peas. We became friends and he offered to produce some of our demo stuff and it just so happened that Jessica's show became a huge hit, and Ashlee wanted to do a group and Geffen offered to back it. Ray called me up asking if I knew of any good guitar and bass players. The first thing that came to my mind was Braxton & Zach. They auditioned, and 1 week later got the job. Braxton & Zach both basically got out of school and now are touring full time with Ashlee and getting paid decent, but experiencing alot of things they would have never otherwise so its pretty cool they got the gig.... and thats how it happened. they lived happily ever after.... the end.

did anyone see the usc game? heavy

To be honest I never asked Beau or Cove and I can only assume that being the nice guys they are, they are happy for one another in both places that each individual is in right now. Its just rock n roll and im sure that as long as everyone is still able to play music, which i know is all of their passions, everyone is happy.

ahhh you know what man. i may get some shit for saying this. I personally, was really upset about that shit man. Im a front man myself and I have to carry a certain amount of responsibility on m shoulders that is above and beyond the rest of the guys because the "lead singer" is supposed to, according to the position, be the "leader". If my band fucks up, we are a team, we all fucked up. If I fuck up, I take it on my own and seperate myself to hold that responsibility, however, under no circumstance would I ever blame my band for something. Thats why we are a called a "band or group" I felt really personally offended because I know everyone in that band, and I know they were hired there to do a job and regardless of the fact they are being sold as a "band", they were formed and put together, which im not talking shit on. After a while you find common interests and you take on the role of the band. They did become and are friends, so when the comment came out that "my band screwed up" I felt like not only was that damaging to their friendships and band mates, cus i personally would have been offended as all fuck, but then she passed it off as a throat problem. All of this is cool, its just not cool when you cant stand on your own and take the responsibility as a whole, all for one and one for all. In my band, we are best friends, and I would personally jump in front of a truck for all of them along with the people who work hard to make my band run. So, i guess when your in a paid situation, and your "replaceable" in those very serious terms, it makes it feel as fake as it can get. Thats my story, im sticking to it. Sorry for ranting, I did however ask 2 of the guys how they felt about what she said and lets just say, they replied with something along the lines of " yeah man, it was really shitty"
