Nothing came up in the search function.

I'm really not a big fan, but he deserves a thread, and for whatever reason Unplugged is sounding great to my ears right now. It might just be because it's late at night/early in the morning.

I think he's alright, but he's never been the most talented member in any of his most famous bands and gets too much credit.

And how would you consider to be more talented in his other bands?

Ginger Baker, Jimmy Page, Duane Allman...

Ginger Baker, Jimmy Page, Duane Allman...

Maybe it's just personal preference, but I think that Clapton's on par with them. You can't really compare Jimmy and Eric though, as they're different stlyled guitarists.

He may be on par, but he's more famous than them. What causes this credit? Most of his famous work was done with bands not on his own.

Um, I think Led Zep is just as famous as Clapton is.

Though I agree that Duane Allman and many of the others that Clapton has played with doesn't get the credit they deserve. It's just what happened.

Zeppelin is famous, but I'm saying this isn't a thread for The Cream or the Yardbirds or Derek and the Dominoes, this is an Eric Clapton thread.

SanePsychotic

Which would include the bands that Eric Clapton was in.

You can make a Jimmy Page thread if you want. We're not stopping you and I'm sure some people would post in it if you started it intelligently.

his last couple collaborations (with b.b. king & j.j. cale) have been bloody brilliant. i enjoy his collaborative works more than his solo work, where i enjoy songs more than i do albums

doesn't matter how outplayed it is, "wonderful tonight" is a great song haha

I've only really enjoyed Derek and the Dominoes and not given much else a chance.

I don't really enjoy him. I of course respect him, but I don't really dig any of the man's music.

j.j. cale deserves a lot of attention in here too, since he wrote much of clapton's better known tunes. i'm not big on solo clapton though, but others bring the best out of him when he collaborates. a repeat with b.b. king would be awesome

I love Clapton. Tears in Heaven pulls on the heartstrings. Such a tragic song. I remember when he son died. I was in 6th grade I think. So terrible.

Since there's no JJ Cale thread, I figured I would post in here. It's a Road To Escondido night, & a damn fine night it is...

Whazzat?

2006? JJ Cale & Eric Clapton came together for a wonderful country/folk/slight honky tonk album. Bloody good too, real good sit back & sing along type album. Best work Clapton has been involved with for years. Cale took over the writing & production, so you know it's a treat mate.

Man, I'll have to listen. I thought CLapton's record last year was pretty great, too.
