The Postal Service (www.purevolume.com/thepostalservice)'s next single will be "We Will Become Silhouettes" and it's due out February 8th. The single will come packaged with one new song titled "Be Still My Heart" and two remixes.

Brilliant stuff. I totally adore this band, and while that's not my favourite song on the album the chance to grab an entirely new song and a couple of remixes is too good to pass up!

I think it should have been "Clark Gable." I wish they'd tour again, but cosidering how busy Rilo Kiley and Death Cab are right now (I don't know about dntel) that won't be happening for a long time.

What's the Postal Service/Rilo Kiley connection?

jenny lewis of rilo kiley does vocals on: district sleeps alone tonight, sleeping in, recycled air, clark gable, we will become silhouettes, and brand new colony.

yeah you know postal service influenced digital ash.. but as for me i'm not a huge fan of guest vocalists. seriously though the postal service needs a new cd. it's cool that they are putting out this single only for the extra shit that comes with it.. its better then nothing. but really, just make a new cd. i know death cab is ben's top priority, but the postal service is revolutionary, and i think he should put at least 50% of his focus on them.

i don't think it's possible for him to put 50% of his focus on a side project. and he can't do it all alone, it needs to be a time when at least jimmy (because i think they worked on most of give up without jenny anyway) is free to work on it too.
i agree, a new album would be nice, but with death cab finally taking off the way they are, it only makes sense his main focus right now would be the band he's put so much into for the past, what, seven or eight years?

personally i dont care which came first a death cab album or a postal service album. I love them equally, and i think both could become huge. In my opinion death cab and the postal service is like music for everyone. Almost everyone i have showed them too absolutely love them, no one, even frends who listen to rap have made fun of the postal service when i showed it to them.

even though its just one new song, this is another reason 2005 is going to kick much ass for me.

If Ben Gibbard and Conor Oberst collaborated on ANYTHING, especially a full album, I think my head would explode. Which is a good thing.

i think i would rather see ben & travis morrison collaborate...more of the same style, but still a ben/conor would rock

very true, whatever is most important to him is what he should focus on... my point was that postal service (unlike death cab) is soo original. not saying death cab isnt original but just the whole style of music i'm talking about...that it would be a shame for them only two put out one or two cds.. i mean ben is getting older so who knows how long it will last, i just wish it could be a yearly thing or somthing.

i would like that too. since they're such good friends and jason has drummed with him and chris has produced his album, it shouldn't be long before ben works with him too.
conor...i love him, his music, but i just think hearing his voice and bens'...from near perfect to very imperfect, i don't think it would mix well.

conor's imperfect voice.. have you heard the last song on "I'm wide awake it's morning" its awesome. he says somthing like "I'd be a famous singer if i had a different voice, but falures always sounded much nicer" somthing like that i wish i had the lyrics, anyways its great.

i know, i love that. it's one of my favorite set of lyrics from that cd, actually.
and i agree with you that it would be nice to get more than just one more record from tps, and soon too. i'm just going to hope that they'll be able to squeeze in that ep i read about in AP sometime this year, since it was supposed to be released in august. i think that's all i can realistically hope for. just something to tide me over, besides a stupid single. one new song just doesn't do it for me and i've never been a fan of remixes, especially on an already digital sounding band like tps (i hate saying techno, i don't consider them techno though i know many people do).

Dntel is supposedly recording a new album sometime in the near future, and rumor has Conor is one of the guest vocalists.

i think it may have to do with the type of person who appreciates and enjoys this type of music. ben gibbard is a genius, and i dont think All-Time Quarterback gets enough credit, either.

all-time quarterback is so fun. i especially love the plans get complex video.
actually, i've seen certain people on this site bash the postal service, saying that they suck and hate when musicians try and get away with anything. it was a really stupid comment, but that person does that a lot with talented artists.
