I want an Ipod for christmas, but a lot of the consumer reports say that after about 12-18 months, the battery dies and you need a new one, which is expensive. Is this true? Also, does the fact that I use a PC and not an Apple make a difference? Are the ones for PC not as good?

well, ive heard on here that they are a pain in the ass. But my cousin showed me hers today and said she can do it with her PC.

The battery dies after about 500 charges (1-2 years). It happens with all rechargable lithium-ion batteries. However, it's only about $50 to replace one. iPods are the same for macs as they are for PC so you don't have to worry about that either. I have a third generation 15GB that's about a year old and it's still going strong and the new generations have better batteries. Just get one dude, you'll love it. yeah, plus the new generation batteries last up to 80% longer than old ones..so thats like what...800 charges..

anyone know if theres some sort of way to trade in a 40gb for the new color 60gb one? to get credit or anything, cuz my 40gb is almost full, and right when i got it the 60 came out...

i got mine last xmas and its going strong, 11 months. not a single problem at all. best gift i received last year. i cant live without it. school, mowing the lawn, my car... ipods rule. i gotta fucking exchange mine, its only a 10 gig. i suck.
