This isn't really what I was expecting from the title track that was leaked beforehand. Hopefully the latter half of the songs I haven't listen to yet are better.

She posted about 8 or 9 (guess) from Acid Tongue on her MySpace. "Fernando" is on it as well, which she performed on Conan a while ago. So I'm glad to see that getting released. Overall, I'm a huge Jenny Lewis fan, so I'll be getting it on the 23rd.

I'm glad you'll finally give More Adventurous a listen if you haven't already.

I just read an announcement that she is coming to play at my school in January for $18. I'm definitely going. Other details said that she had a three hour time slot and that she'd be playing with "Special Guests". Last time they said this for Fleet Foxes it was one opener and Fleet Foxes played a long show, like two hours plus and encore.

Amazing, amazing live show. She played so many different songs, even a few b-sides. It was just her and her guitar. Which John Rice accompanying on a few songs. Songs from the setlist (not in perfect order):

Rabbit Fur Coat
It's A Hit
Pretty Bird
Carpetbaggers
Paradise (i think, it's a b-side)
Silver Lining
The Charging Sky
You Are What You Love
The Big Guns
Rise Up With Fists!!!
A Better Son/Daughter
Melt Your Heart
It Wasn't Me

Encore:
Godspeed
Happy
Acid Tongue

And some covers and other songs i'm missing.

He annoys me since he half-ruined Acid Tongue (the song) for me on the album. It was at least a million times better when I first heard it live with Jenny + the Watson Twins. He sounds awful.

Yeah I know. Still probably in my top 10 songs of the year. Regardless, I cringe every time he comes in on the chorus.

Actually, I think he was there at my show but vocally he played a minor role. I'm rethinking my preference for my show now - who was your opener? Mine was godawful. My girlfriend and I literally had to leave the venue (seated show) and walk around for a while until they were done channeling their inner Pink Floyd/Bob Dylan. We weren't alone. Once outside we heard someone say "man, if Bob Dylan was dead he'd be rolling in his grave". hahaha

You just have to get past it i guess haha. Great song.

Norfolk & Western, this band from Portland, so i doubt it was the same band haha. But dang, that sounds pretty terrible haha. Did their set carry on for very long? haha. And Pink Floyd/Bob Dylan sounds like a poor match up.

Norfolk & Western is awesome - not sure how they are live but I'd have killed for them. haha The set wasn't that long, but reasonably long. We were a bit late, suffered through about a song and a half (recall the mention on Pink Flord and the typical length of a Pink Floyd song), and still had time to walk around for like 15 mins.

They would good live, although the singer was straining a bit. One guy busted out a saw and played it with a violin bow, so sick. I was stunned at the sound it produced. They had some solid songs, and but i wasn't impressed enough to buy an album

Awesome. Hell yeah I remember their name. That way if they're ever one the bill for a show I'm headed to I'll make sure to show up late. Funny thing was they get a pretty positive review on Pitchfork soon thereafter. They're called VietNam (http://www.myspace.com/vietnamtheband). I love Rilo Kiley for the odd little pop experiments they perform on each album (everything from a distorted, oversexualized, LA-sleeze take on mainstream pop to a ersatz-concept folk-pop album), but Lewis' solo stuff has left me cold. I enjoyed the collaboration with the Watson Twins, but not necessarily for her crooning or lyrics and Acid Tongue didn't grab me in the least.

Then again, I'm one of those assholes who loves Blake's vocals, thinks the best Rilo tracks are the one's he sang (Ripchord, So Long, Dreamworld, Rained the Day, etc.) and prefers The Elected to Lewis' subsidiary stuff.

Okay, so Jenny was absolutely on point last night. Only one Rilo Kiley song that I recall. It was Silver Lining, and she ended the song in tears which was cool. Everything sounded great. Went out back afterwards to get my vinyl copy of the Carpetbaggers single signed. She shared with me the story behind the "Jenny Lewis and Her Sound" title on the back..."It was Elvis's idea." It was based on a b-side of his in which he used the "and his sound" phrase. Super nice, absolutely loved her.

Silver Lining (Rilo Kiley)

Just Like Zeus (new song)

The Big Wave (new song)
Sing A Song For Them

The thing I can say about the show is that I walked away from it viewing a lot of the Acid Tongue material in a new light. I've always been more of a RFC girl but I think I'm going to start listening to Acid Tongue more these days. And I'm sad to report, I did not get that picture with her. Hahah. I knew it wasn't going to happen :-(
