Hey, does anyone like Ted Leo and the Pharmacists? I actually saw them live last night, and they were pretty good. They were actually quite musically talented, I was surprised. It was weird though, because everywhere I looked there were girls with black emo glasses, and the dudes looked like total indie pussies, if you catch my drift. I had never been to an "indie" show before. I felt out of place in my Hurley hooded sweatshirt...

Fuck yeah dude. I like talking about bands like this. Ted Leo is amazing dude. The music is so good.

Love him, he's awesome. I really want to see him live, but haven't had the chance yet.

Fuck those kids, they probably all have really small dicks and the girls have hairy cunts. What a bunch of ***s, if they said anything to you, you should have beat the fuck out of them.

Yeah, it was at the Black Cat, it's a pretty sweet place. I see you're also from Maryland, are you near DC? I've never heard of Bel Air...

i went on wednesday night, it was my 8th time seeing him. the crowd wasn't all 'indie' like that, but i think it had something to do with the opening bands. we had washington social club who are more pop rock, and you got matt pond pa, a more indie band.
anyway, ted leo = the mother fucking man, and it was an incredible set. much love and respect.

Well yeah, everyone wasn't "indie," but it was weird seeing a lot of them around, cause I usually go the 9:30 Club where everyone is like 16 and wears band tshirts and trucker hats...

Yeah dude, you don't remember me? Haha, I used to say random immature shit and you got pissed. Yeah, I'm from a shitty county known as Harford, or Hazard County because some parts are quite hickish. We also tend to vote Republican, but I'm a full fledged Dem.
Yeah, the Blackcat is okay. I saw Year Of The Rabbit/Death By Stereo/Thursday there last year. Pretty good show, but the barrier is real week. Plus Efrem pulled on my shirt to pull himself up and I got hurt. Haha, oh well. So overall, Blackcat is kind of a weak club. And most of the kids from DC are pussies. Except for the ones that are big into Dischord records. And I say they are pussies becuase 90% of them are rich ***gots that claim to hate their parents.

Oh no, I remember you from before. Actually, I had wondered if you became a different person because you're not as offensive as you used to. I didn't think you lived in Maryland though. It's all good. I live in the complete opposite of hick town. Germantown is the epitomy of suburbia. The Black Cat was cool cause I had never been before, but the 9:30 Club beats the shit out of it, as does the Nation...

No way man. The Ottobar owns all. I'm guessing you haven't been there before? It's like a Basement venue, so fucking sweet. The bands are right above you. It's so awesome there. I love it.

They have plenty of shows I know you would like. And the reason I act like a dick is just to get a reaction out of people, haha. But yeah, 930 is pretty cool.

I lied about where I lived and where I went to school just to be a bad ass. Haha. Because in real life, I am very far from a bad ass.

my only complaint with the black cat is that it has very poor venilation and cigarette smoke really bothers me for some reason, like to the point where it almost makes me sick by the end of some shows.
other than that, i'll take it over 930 any day. cheaper drinks, more laid back atmosphere and less stupid little kids. plus it's in a fun area of the city, lots of good cheap places to eat before the show.

I'm going to the Rise Against show at the Ottobar next month. I love that place, but i dont go unless the show is really special because it's a 2 hour drive.

Oh I can agree with that big time. I feel like I'm going to get shot everytime I go to The Ottobar, but oh well. I still dig the really small atmosphere. 9:30 Club is amazing though, went to my first show there. So I can't really complain.

Yeah, for me to get to DC it's about 2 and a half hours. So that really blows dicks.

Actually I've been meaning to go to the Ottobar sometime soon. I gotta check that place out for serious...

a girl i know got robbed at gunpoint in the daytime in the parking lot of the ottobar. but she was really fucking stupid and got there all early before anyone else was there. two white girls alone in an alley parking lot in n. baltimore? yeah just asking to get jacked.

Exactly. Plus right next to the ottobar are fucking homes, peoples homes. It is really bad dude. I see them hop the fences and shit.

Yeah, I only heard one of his cds in the car of my roommate's, and it was pretty good, so when he said they were playing at the Black Cat, I said why not. I think I'm gonna see Me First and the Gimme Gimmes there in January, which will fucking rock...

haha read the main page of the site, they are doing three dates for their live album and we got one of em
showerscene
12/03/04, 12:31 PM
Yeah, that's pretty hot one of the dates is here. I wonder if it's cause Dave Grohl owns the Black Cat, and the other guitarist for the Foo Fighters is in the band. I doubt it, but maybe...
The Bled 13
12/03/04, 12:32 PM
Haha, that is hilarious.

12/03/04, 12:33 PM
Dave Grohl owns the Blackcat? Does he really?
The Bled 13
12/03/04, 12:33 PM
Yeah, that would be a good reason Me First is playing their. That is so weird, I never knew that. I'm pretty sure the entire band Foo Fighters is from VA.

looks like indie is becoming the new big thing. :headshake

dave is part owner of the cat, yes.
but chris schifflet isn't playing with me first anymore

12/03/04, 12:35 PM
Who's the new guitarist then?
The Bled 13
12/03/04, 12:36 PM
Yeah, it says some guy named Dante owns it.

I wasn't talking about Black Cat or whatever. I was just saying, it looks like a lot of people who worship "emo/pop punk" are getting into indie right now. I doubt it's going to last for long anyway, I can't picture girls getting obsessed over indie musicians. which is a good thing.

12/03/04, 12:38 PM

from the black cat's site:
FRI JAN 7- ME FIRST AND THE GIMME GIMMES [feat. Fat Mike (NOFX), Spike (Swingin' Utters), Joey Cape and Dave Raun (Lagwagon) and Brian Baker (Bad Religion)] $15 mainstage 9:30
and yeah dante is main owner, he's a vet of the old dc punk scene.

Well if they think bands like Say Anything is Indie then they are dumb fucks. Now if they say Wrens it's a different story I suppose.

Is Brian Baker the one that's fucking sweet at guitar and looks like an old emo hippie?

Actually Say Anything could sort of be considered Indie Rock because their album is released on a RIAA safe label.

They suck though. I was talking about that overrall "indie rock" sound.
