View Full Version : Curt Schilling is a prick.
http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2008/09/schilling_takes.html
"The euphoria in New York is palpable," Schilling said during his weekly appearance on sports radio WEEI. "The Yankees suck this year and they are bitter and mad and making excuses over that. Now they got Tom [Brady] going down so New York's excited. It's unfortunate, but when you crawl to the top of the pile you will have people trying to knock you down." - Curt Schilling
I'm a die hard Yankee fan, a die hard Jets fan. I still would never wish hurt upon anyone...even Tom Brady, and even after this article I still would never want to see Schilling hurt. What a douche bag.

the yankees do suck, and they have been giving excuses why.
the jets are excited, not because brady got hurt. but because they feel they can win the division.
when you become extrememly successful, the majority of people want to see you fail.
i agree shcilling's a douchebag, but i don't see how this quote helps prove that at all.
he spoke a lot of truths there. this is one of the least douchey things i've ever seen him say.

Schilling says a lot of true things that no one wants to here or is politically incorrect. Sure that makes him a douche, but he has balls. Balls have to count for something.
The printed quote is out of context. He's actually addressing the euphoria in NY over the actual injury. This thread was stupid I apologize. Shit on me I won't even come back to check.

hes mostly a douche, but every blind squirrel finds a nut.

His balls would be more appreciated if he threw a pitch his season to back up his statements. I usually don't have a problem with outspoken athletes that back it up. Rewind this a year and I wouldn't have even posted this. He's a great pitcher, but this year he should have shut the fuck up

he's not talking about anything to do with the red sox?
what do you want him to back up about those statements? dude's oppinionated. saying he shouldn't give opionions on shit that really has nothing to do with his profession just because he's injured is pretty silly.

Yea Yankee/Jet combos are rare, I just kind of grew up in a Jet atmosphere. I mean I agree with everybody who says that Schill is opinionated and he can say what he wants.
I just disagree with a few things:
Yankees giving excuses for sucking:
Well we haven't had our Ace, our "future ace"(doubt it but he's still a solid arm) that we wouldn't trade for Johan Santana, one of our most consistent hitters, nor our catcher and a clubhouse leader. Those are huge losses IMO. Plus the Rays' excellence was beyond our control. We'd be in a tight wild card race with the Blue Jays if the Rays just sucked like everybody expected. These excuses are valid. Schilling didn't dominate the Yankees like he usually does. He had no hand in them sucking. He should really leave that alone.
He also makes a comment about getting to the top of the pile and becoming bitter. New York is not at the top of the pile anymore. The Giants got lucky. Please look at the Knicks. The Celtics, The Patriots, The Sox and the Bruins are 4 of the best organizations on and off the field in sports. They're at the top.
Schilling later added: "They want us to be as bitter and mad and miserable as they are. And, unfortunately, it's not going to happen. The sad part is going to be when (the Patriots) beat the Jets next week."
So ONE out of your FOUR potential championship teams has a setback. We don't give a shit. The Pats will still win 10 games. We don't want you guys to be miserable as you watch the Red Sox pull together one of the best Septembers in recent memory, the Celtics on the verge of perhaps another dynasty, and the Bruins build off a surprising yet solid season.
I think he seems pretty bitter. Bitter about his career coming to an end. Bitter about having NO part in the end of the Yankee dynasty, despite what he may say. I'm not going to say that NOBODY GIVES A SHIT WHAT YOU SAY, CURT! Because I obviously do. Sometimes the stuff that comes out of his mouth is right, and really puts Yankee fans in the place we deserve, I'll admit that. This was just retarded.
And you're not a professional athlete at all, so you should stop throwing your opinions out there, then, douchefuck.
And if you truly practiced what you preached you wouldn't have even said that.

Yawn. I said it because you're making qualifiers about who can say what they want and when they want. My point: You're dumb, shut up.

No. If that were the case, why should I bother even sharing my opinion? Jesus, why should any non-athlete root against any sports team ever?

No to what? You weren't making qualifiers on when someone can have an opinion? I'd say that this:
His balls would be more appreciated if he threw a pitch his season to back up his statements. I usually don't have a problem with outspoken athletes that back it up. Rewind this a year and I wouldn't have even posted this. He's a great pitcher, but this year he should have shut the fuck up
...is pretty much saying when someone can have an opinion. And apparently it's when one is a pro athlete that is currently participating in their aforementioned sport.
I thought you weren't coming back?
This thread was stupid I apologize. Shit on me I won't even come back to check.
not gonna lie, my first reaction to hearing that brady would be out the season was hahahaha go bills. but we bills fans are a bitter cold breed.

I'll agree to that. What I said comes off as me putting a qualifier on opinions. I'm going to ask you to disregard that statement. I realize it would be retarded for me to set qualifiers for opinions on a website where we critique musicians that we can't touch in skill.
Plus I'm not attacking Schilling. He started shit with New York fans. I'm just responding.

Then try responding to him on his blog -- not a website he's never heard of. Well thought out.

Maybe he should have attacked us on a NY radio station, not one that can't be heard outside of Boston.

Because something a famous athlete says on a local radio station always stays on the local radio station, right?
Do you even think before you spout something off?
Actually, to be honest, no. You win.
Carson Palmer totally should have had the balls to shit on Ohio State on a Cincy Radio Station!!!!!!!!!

Curt Shilling is an asshole. Even though I respect people who speak their mind, this guy doesn't even play anymore and has the gall to talk shit.
Shilling says we're "bitter" fans? Back in the mid/late '90's when the Yanks weren't a joke and the Red Sox weren't anywhere near contenders, it would be unheard of if New York sports fans cheered when anyone on the Red Sox got hurt. But I'm very well sure there would Boston fans hollering in joy when they heard a Yanks player got hurt.
Hey, it's what comes for sucking for that long.. Red Sox are only relevant as of this past 4-5 years. Try holding out for a decade and winning rings like the Yankees did.

i hate people who assume that if you're a fan of a team, you're automatically a fan the other sports teams in that city. i was in yankee stadium wearing sox gear and i got 3 or 4 "18-1" comments. like a really give a fuck about the patriots.

on the flip side, if you're a yankee fan and you go into fenway, red sox fans will flip you the bird, harass you to the end, and/or try to pick a fight even more so than the yanks fans I've seen in the bronx do to boston fans. This applies whether you trash talk or not in fenway.

I think its usually Yanks;G-men and Mets;Jets. So, basically 33 championships vs. 3 championships. You pick.
Also, Curt Schilling can lick my balls. The day he signed with the Red Sox his first words were,"I guess I have to hate the Yankees." He's a complete d-bag. He'll never pitch again.
