View Full Version : Saying No...

I was asked to homecoming today by a note/cupcake, but it was unsigned. My guess is that tomorrow I will find out who it is. The problem thought is that I already have a girlfriend that goes to another school, and I already asked her to my dance. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but our homecoming isn't for a month and the girl doesn't usually ask the guy. My guess is this girl really likes me and really put herself out to ask me this far in advance. How should I say no while doing minimal damage?

Edit: And then say no.

This girl is asking you out knowing there's the possibility you might say no, so she'll be prepared for it. I doubt she'll be completely and utterly devastated. Just say hey I think you're cool but I have a girlfriend and she says boo-hoo and moves on, end of story.
Just enjoy that cupcake!

Has your current girlfriend ever made you a cupcake?
I bet not.
haha for that one cupcake, there is at least 11 more, who knows, maybe you're not the only one who got one!
Bitch is playing the field, you know?
I guess the question here is, are you a gamblin' man?

Indeed. The only thing better than a cupcake is a FREE cupcake.
Or perhaps two cupcakes.

just be nice about it. tell her it was a sweet gesture and under other circumstances, you'd love to but you have a girlfriend blah blah blah. tell her you hope she has a good time at the dance. not that hard.

Hahahaha. I was also thinking that I would have been upset to only receive one of the cupcakes, since they usually come in large batches.

You should make a pretty cupcake back and write "NO" on the inside bottom of the paper and tell her that's where the answer is.
She would be expecting a yes with all that trouble you went through.
Maybe I'm just an asshole.

Questions that I would like answered.
1) How did you receive the cupcake? (e.g. it was delivered by a person, it was sitting on my desk.)
2) How good was the cupcake?
I like how you are assuming it’s a girl who gave you the cupcake.

My advice is to just tell her the truth, which is that you have a girlfriend. I think it's less painful if you do it that way because it's not like you are saying that you have anything against her as person. Instead, you are just telling her that you are not available to date anyone at this time since you are taken. Hope this helps!

because he's a nice guy and feels bad about rejecting some girl?
just let her down easy and tell her that you already have a date. just don't make up some lame, fake reason.

I'm sure the anonymous person will reveal herself. that's how these things usually work. and if she doesn't, then I guess she won't actually ask him and he won't have to worry about it.
