Changeling

Dir. Clint Eastwood

Starring: Angelina Jolie, John Malkovich

From IMDb:

"Clint Eastwood directs Angelina Jolie and John Malkovich in a provocative thriller based on actual events: Changeling. In the film, Christine Collins' (Jolie) prayers are met when her kidnapped son is returned. But amidst the frenzy of the photo-op reunion, she realizes this child is not hers. Facing corrupt police and a skeptical public, she desperately hunts for answers, only to be confronted by a truth that will change her forever."

I just watched the trailer for this and it looks great. Clint Eastwood looks to be in top form, yet again. Hopefully, that is the case.

Thought about making a thread for this but I forgot. Early reviews are ruining the movie for me.

Thanks Muse! I'm at work, so I couldn't look to see if the trailer was up anywhere online.

Eastwood usually makes pretty solid stuff.

This looks really good.

So does this child that is returned to her look like her own boy or is it like literally the same looking boy only different. I took it to mean like the boy looked the same but she could tell he was different but then I figured it was just a similar looking kid posing as her son.

Righteous isn't good?

I've heard nothing but bad things since production ended. Then a couple people I work with saw it tonight and said C+ at best.

It's only 17% fresh on RT.

Story sounds a little too ridiculous for me.

But apparently it's based on actual events?

It's based on the Wineville Chicken Murders. A man abducted a few boys back in the 20's and it was a huuuge media story (OJ trial big). A little while later they found two of the boys had been murdered. Later on a boy emerged claiming to be one of the boys that had been abducted. He was returned to his mother who promptly announced that it wasn't her son. The LA Police department coerced her into taking the boy, going home and keeping quiet about it. For the next 10 days she tried to get people to believe that the boy wasn't her son, and she was branded as an unfit mother and thrown into a psychiatric facility. After 10 days the boy admitted that he had posed as the missing boy in order to get a free trip to LA. They never found the real missing boy. The story revealed the rampant corruption in both the LAPD and the media at the time. To answer your question, supposedly the boys looked nothing alike.

I'm excited to see Jeffrey Donovan in this. I love him in Burn Notice.

After reading that, it makes a lot more sense and I really want to see it now

And I NEVER want to see movies with Angelina Jolie in them.

I just got back from this and I'm wondering why I haven't heard about this before tonight. Such an excellent film, one of my favorites from '08 for sure.

Clint Eastwood is such a great director/producer.

Angelina Jolie does a superb job too.

I saw this movie for the first time last week. It is an amazing movie. I loved it but it was sad. Even more so once i found out that it all really did happen. I couldn't imagine being a mother whose son disappears and never knowing rather or not he is alive or dead. It must have been so hard for Christine Collins and not being to have any closure.

I've watched this movie a few times and love it, although it's pretty sad. Most of the time I don't like Angelina Jolie but she was great in this. I also enjoyed John Malkovich a lot.

This movie kinda made me confused. So she still doesn't know if her son is dead or alive? Or did he died? I forgot now.
