Agreed on many (especially TPR)! Good to see another Gin Blossoms fan. New Miserable Experience is a very good album.

"Very good" doesn't even begin to describe it. It's one of the few mainstream pop/rock albums I would consider perfect.

My Bloody Valentine
Slowdive
Promise Ring
Broadways
Tuesday
Slapstick

I just used that term because it wouldn't consider it "great". I mean, it's great for me because it was one of the first albums I ever got into - a few years later and I was really young then but it still made a huge impact upon my life. It's an album that I still go back to.
Though now I have a better appreciation for Congradulations...I'm Sorry. Not as good as NME, but it has some stellar tunes ("Not Only Numb" - hello!).

DUH.
I really need to listen to some more American Football. I listened to them a little bit but for some reason I backed off. Same with Cap'n Jazz.
The only SDRE album I've listened to is Diary and I really enjoy select songs from that album. Just hasn't hit me yet I guess? Maybe when I buy a hard copy.

I don't mind Congratulations, it just doesn't grab me the same way. But you're right, there are some great songs on there. I really like Competition Smile, I was screaming for it the whole night when I saw them live and I was pretty bummed they didn't play it. But I just think the heights of that album don't match the heights of NME... Hey Jealousy, 29, Mrs. Rita, Lost Horizons, Cheatin', there's not a bad song on there. That's why I think it's so great - it's consistent. There's some amazing stuff on their other two records, but there's also some filler and some hookless garbage. NME is killer start to finish.

Give American Football and Cap'n Jazz another shot. You'll probably enjoy them again. I love Diary a lot haha. They still had a few other good releases.

Yes! And the thing is that it's not just an album you would listen to when you're in a particular mood or have to be in the right time or place to listen to it - it's great whenever you hear it. And it gets so damn catchy.
Do you have a favorite song on NME? I know it's hard to choose since it's all great, but I'd go with "Until I Fall Away" since it was one of the first songs I loved right off the bat. Either that or "Mrs. Rita".

Ha, I don't know what happened with all that. I was kind of getting into a 90s emo kick and I stumbled upon American Football, liked it but didn't really persue it. And while I keep hearing "Cap'n Jazz is fuckin' great!" over and over I just haven't gotten around to it. So much music, so little time.

I'd probably say 29, mostly because the lyrics hit me like a ton of bricks. But it's really hard to pick a favorite otherwise.

I love that song too. For me it's something about how it's arranged, it just has the right feeling to it.
NME is also good technically. It has some nice guitar parts that are fun to play. Such as in "29".

I see, well you're a smart girl, you'll come around to it sooner or late. :-)
