This definitely isn't the most cheerful thread, but I'm curious. My family has lost a lot of members due to cancer. The most recent being my aunt (the only aunt that I actually even knew. EVERY one else, except for direct family is either in Poland or Germany) and now, my dad's mom. My aunt's death was devastating and it has been affecting me a lot more than I ever imagined that it could.
Has anybody lost anyone to cancer? How did you deal with it?

i'm sorry to hear that. i'm not sure there is really a way to get over it or anything. i think you just have to remember the good times and that she is in a far better place than on earth. other than that, you just gotta go through everyday and it will get better.
my close cousin had cancer when she was just in 5th grade, but thankfully, she surivived. both of my grandparents died from cancer (they smoked). my aunt and my mom's good friend both have breast cancer. one of my best friend's brother died from cancer a few months back. sad.

I'm sorry it's affected your family so much, that's gotta be really tough :(
When I was 7 my grandmother died from lung cancer..and when I was a freshman my sister's best friend (who was like my older brother) died..and last year one of my best friends died of cancer.
It's hard, but Mike is right..you just have to remember the good times and know they're in a better place. It's corny but true.

Sorry to hear about your aunt..
My grandmother was diagnosed with skin cancer before I was born, but then it went away for awhile. When I was 6, she relapsed and the cancer overtook her body and then she died from it. I was pretty young when it happened, so I didn't really understand what was going on. My great-uncle died 3 years ago of lung cancer. And my Aunt recently was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, but then it went away. We found out a month ago that she also relapsed and now it's spreading.
You kind of have to take the good with the bad you know? Just have hope when all of the cancer stuff is going on. And then if they unfortunately die, do what Mike said and remember the good times and know that they are probably in a better place...

It's kind of odd this topic comes up now, just last week my uncle was found with cancer in his stomach and abdomin. They're going to try some different things, but the likelihood is that he's going to have about a year to two years left then he'll be gone. Less then a month ago he seemed to be fine.

I actually have been effected by cancer as well, for my Mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer about 2 years ago. Honestly probably the hardest time in my life, seeing my mother go through the things she had to go through but luckily she fought it and shes now well. Not to sound cheesy but it actually changed everyone in my familys life. I got through it just hoping for the best, always being there as a supportive son but for someone that you lost you just need to realize that shes not suffering anymore and at peace. I am truly sorry for your loss and hope you and your family find peace.

That it does. But ya..you're all right, there's no sense in dwelling on what can't be changed. Just gotta realize that they're okay now. Thanks again

I'm sorry about your aunt.
As for Cancer, my gramma found out she had cancer last year. It had all happened within ten days so it was horrible. She had to have a surgery, and now she seems fine, but I'm so scared that I will lose her, because no one has lasted too long after having breast cancer. I try not to think about it though because I don't think I could handle losing her (she's the 2nd person I love the most) so the thought terrifies me. I haven't seen her in like 3 years too so it sucks. :(

thanks again and i'm sorry for everyones losses.
just know that i didn't make this thread to have people feel sorry for me. i know that i'm not the only one to go through something like this...the replies have made it all the more evident. if anyone has not lost someone to cancer, i pray that you never have to.
