I'm too broke to buy my ticket for the Cleveland show right now. I really hope it doesn't sell out before pay day on Thursday because I'll be sad if I miss it but there is always Girl Talk at Beachland Ballroom across town.

yeah, but does that mean every song in a jumbled setlist, or the whole album in order?

Pepsichug
09/15/08, 11:19 AM
the first time i saw them they played Everything In Transit from beginning to end in order, then encored with soco and covers...but they have a lot more music now, so who knows what they will do.

if that was the set list, i would never have to go to another show ever again and i could die happy. it will never happen though, haha!

i'm hoping he will play some new soco songs that we don't get to hear as often... maybe ruthless? that would be cool. but with so much new music to play, it's going to be hard to work EIT songs, soco songs, and covers into the set list so i'm not getting my hopes up.

still, i'm thrilled to hear EVERY song off the new album! that's going to be amazing.

I'd guess it'll be The Glass Passenger all the way through... A slight break. Then he'll come back out and play another 6-8 songs. Most likely 5 or 6 from Everything In Transit, a SoCo song or two, and a cover.

I bought tickets to their Grand Rapids show in November. I actually found this forum on Google while trying to figure out what songs they were going to be playing at the show. I really hope it's not just songs from "The Glass Passenger". Personally I like "Everything in Transit" a lot better. And that would be AWESOME if they could play some SOCO songs too. Anyways, just my 2 cents.

This is true. However, Cavanaugh Park could possibly make me cry like a 12 year old girl meeting All Time Low or something. I basically grew up on that song, would be like the 8th wonder of the world to me if I saw it live.

JM toured for nearly four years of nothing but Everything in Transit. I've seen them do that CD five times (http://intunemusiconline.com/category/bands/jacks-mannequin/) since 2007 alone.. maybe eleven or twelve since spring 2005.

Crashin
Spinning
Swim
American Love
Annie Use Your Telescope
The Mixed Tape
Hammers and Strings
Suicide Blonde
Holiday From Real
Kids (MGMT Cover)
Bloodshot
Miss California
Orphans
La La Lie
The Resolution
Dear Jack (!!!)
Dark Blue
Cavanaugh Park
Caves

The girl said that he played Dear Jack, but stopped in the middle because he forgot the words, and that he said if you wanted to hear the full song, come to the show tonight (!!!). I'm not sure if he DIDN'T play What Gets You Off? and Drop Out or if the person forgot to put them in there.

Hopefully. At least I got "Cavanaugh Park" out of my wishes. I would seriously flip out if he played a mellowed-out version of "Fall". I'm so curious as to whether he's changing up the setlist for EIT and SoCo covers...

Well we should know by tonight, since he is playing in NC. And I believe Fall is a Josh Parington song, so I would not expect it on a JM tour, as he has said he can't play Hurricane for that very reason.

i'm sure he'll change it up a little bit, but i'm actually pretty happy with this setlist! i wouldn't mind him substituting last straw for la la lie, though.

Just got back...and dang, the show was GREAT.

Here's the full set in order (straight from the actual sheet)

10/15/08 Charlotte, NC
The Visulite Theatre

Crashin'
Spinning
Swim
The Mixed Tape
Annie Use Your Telescope
American Love
What Gets You Off
I'm Ready
The Resolution
Hammers And Strings
Holiday From Real (Acoustic)
Kids (MGMT Cover - Acoustic)
Miss California
Bruised
Bloodshot
Caves

Encore
Dark Blue
Cavanaugh Park
La La Lie

Seriously, like I said earlier, just seeing Cavanaugh Park made my night, but getting I'm Ready and Bruised was GREAT. He said that this was their second time playing What Gets You Off and that they didn't play it last night. The venue was GREAT, I was directly in front of Andrew, and he came out in the crowd during Mixed Tape and Bloodshot, and he danced with my girlfriend for a while, haha.

Still, I LOVED the show...it was great. Caves was amazing, and so was Hammers and Strings. God, hearing Crashin live for the first time was awesome, it is SUCH a good opener. Swim was so much better this time around because I actually knew it...when he played it in Memphis, I was just along for the ride, haha.

really lame if he left out What Gets You Off and Drop Out... two of my favorite songs. And there is a recording on youtube. Its actually pretty funnny, he gets messed up because some girl is clapping wrong and he totally calls her out.

That was the ONE thing that really disappointed me...especially after hearing about the stuff in Atlanta.

I've never heard the actual MGMT song, so I can't really compare it, but it sounded REALLY good, especially Andrew's keys.

All in all though, the venue was PERFECT, so I'm not going to complain about anything. I hope you have an AWESOME time! It's a GREAT show.

yeah, i was kind of hoping it was going to be an every show kind of thing after he said he would sing it again... but i guess not. also, i thought they were supposed to be playing the new album in its entierty? i guess they scratched that idea so they would be able to fit in more EIT/cover songs. nonetheless, the set list so far as been pretty amazing! i'm really excited!

the orlando show was amazing! set list was pretty much the same as the NC show, except they didn't do the cover of kids. it would have been perfect without the obnoxious frat boys screaming for konstantine in between every song... even after andrew told them to shut the fuck up about 15 times.

BUT, he did say that bobby begs him all the time to play it too. and bobby was like "it's true, i want to play it so bad!" SO MAYBE IF YOU STOP SCREAMING IT ONE DAY HE WILL JUST BE NICE AND PLAY IT. probably not, but still... stop screaming it.

TheCrazyFox22
10/17/08, 11:28 PM
so did he finally play all of TGP since he left out kids?

and the problem with playing Konstantine is that he can never get away with playing it once. if he doesn't play it every time after, the screams will just intensify.

boxingwithstars
10/18/08, 07:24 AM
no, he left out drop out, suicide blonde, and orphans still. i want to say he might have played an extra song from EIT, but i can't remember... haha.

yeah, true. i doubt he'll ever play it unless he's playing with something corporate. but i just thought it was funny that the rest of the band wants to play it and he won't, lol. he was getting so pissed off though. he gave this HUGE speech about how he wasn't going to play it, and he was like "please, you guys can scream as loud as you want as long as you're not screaming that one word!" and these guys STILL kept yelling for it. even when he sat down the play caves, they were yelling for it. i was about to punch someone. i don't understand how he puts up with it all the time.

xoxbocachicaxox
10/18/08, 07:38 AM

i know, i got to hear drop out at warped tour but i wish they would have added it to the set list for this tour. i can understand why they've left suicide blonde off, though. they played that song a lot before the album came out, and it's also probably the weakest song on the album. but i'd still like to hear it live at some point!

Yeah. Konstantine was the song that got me into song writing and wanting to play the piano. It's not the most amazing song ever, but it's sure as hell up there. Cavanaugh Park is really badass though. I'm stoked. From what I can tell they playing a set of TGP and EIT songs and then have a couple more from both albums that they're interchanging in addition to a couple covers and/or rarities. This is a win for Mr. Andrew.

I only saw them once. It was Finch, Further Seems Forever, SoCo, and NFG at Emo's in Austin on my 17th birthday. Talk about the best night of my highschool life. Got back with my ex. All my friends were there. I had cheesecake (my favorite) and saw 4 of my favorite bands. To this day they are still 4 of my favorite bands, that says something, not sure what, but something. Shit, my mom even let me drive the brand new SUV in my sweaty ass (now sleeveless) brand new NFG softcore punk shirt.

Shame there were seats at the venue, which is not a typically setting there. But it was still a badass show. Seats kind of limited the energy, and they definitely didn't go as over the top as I've seen them at Warped or whatnot, but it was still badass. 8.5/10 (B/B+)

He played La La Lie, Holiday From Real, Dark Blue, Mixed Tape off EIT and most of Glass Passenger. He also did the MGMT cover, which was sweet. Are you talking about the Troubadour? I'm pretty sure the Troubadour allows cameras even though it says no cameras. I've been there once before and tons of people used their cameras. Unless their policy changes for every show.

No cameras? That sucks, I usually like taking a few band photos at shows. Do you know if they enforce the rule? Regardless, I'm still extremely excited for this show. Less than a week left to wait.

At my date they had a customized poster with the date and place of the show, and the first 100 copies were signed.

How much was that? It'd be cool to put it on the wall in my dorm.

this might be a stupid question that's been asked a billion times, but it's 7am and i'm too lazy to go through every page, so i'm asking anyway :P

was this tour originally advertised as jack's playing everything off of the glass passenger on each night, or did i misunderstand/that's not what's happening?

From what I recognize from Treaty of Paris (I don't listen to them much but I've seen them open a couple of times for other bands): Rollerskates, Here Goes Nothing, Waking Up The Dead, Hello Nurse, New Improved. They've been playing their sets acoustic as well. I don't know any other song titles besides the ones on their myspace.

Tonight's show was SOOO much better than last night. It was definitely uh star studded. The Jonas Brothers were up on the balcony hahaha and Andrew said Brooke White from American Idol (I'm not sure who she is) was there too. And Tommy Lee came on stage to give Andrew a shot too and watched from the balcony as well.

I suspect that it may have been a one shot deal because Tommy Lee has been quoted a few times how much he really liked that song and was excited to work on EIT. I would probably plan on them going back to "Cavanaugh Park" after that show. Maybe not....just a speculatory guess on my part. If I had my choice of SoCo songs it would be in order:
1. Only Ashes
2. Forget December (seriously, November is close enough...has anyone ever seen this song live?)
3. Fall
4. Break Myself
5. You're Gone

And Tommy (Lee) and I – we share a manager and he had gotten a copy of Something Corporate’s second record North. And that album had a song called “Me and the Moon,” which is truthfully one of my favourite songs, when I hear songs from my career period, but definitely my favourite with Something Corporate. And Tommy loved this song and I had heard for months, you know like after that album came out, it was like Tommy loved “Me and the Moon,” and I was like “yeah that’s awesome”. And then one day when I was in the studio working on new material, just starting to develop, the early stages of Everything in Transit we were just programming drums and building beats and things like that, it was really just more of a creative whatever, we’ll see what happens with it – I got a call from Tommy and he was like “Dude it’s Tommy Lee.” And it was like “Hey Tommy!” you know what I mean, like are you serious? He’s like “yeah Carl gave me your number, I’m doing this record” and he was working on his record called TommyLand: The Ride it was like his sort of solo thing and he was collaborating with a bunch of different writers and singers and things like that. And he’s like “Dude I have this song and like it means a lot to me. I haven’t been able to finish it, it reminds me a lot of you know ‘Me and the Moon,’ it’s sort of where I got some inspiration. Do you think you’d come and help me work on this track?” I was like “okay I’m getting in my car now man!”You know what I mean? I was like alright guys cancel the session. So I went over there and then he and I just totally clicked.
