I prefer Emarosa with their old vocalist; 'This Is Your Way Out' is one of my favorite EP's. New Emarosa is too bland and boring. Sure, Jonny has a nice voice, but it gets repetive; it's the same thing over and over again. The music in Emarosa is also toned and watered downed to allow Jonnys' voice prevail over all, which was not a good thing in my opinoin. Anyways, I love Dance Gavin Dance with Kurt and without Jonny, their new album is their best release to date and one of my favorite albums of all time. Agraceful is also bad ass too. So to me, Emarosa is only band that fell short and lost. Too bad.

Mannn agreed so much, a few tracks are great because of Jonny's vocals, and he does manage to keep interest in a few, but it does get repetitive,

I just love how he sings the line "It was all, simple words" in one of the tracks. It's little catches like that that make this album bearable, other than that it's amazingly average.

Personally, Downtown Battle Mountain is one of my favorite albums ever.
I don't really like the new Emarosa. It gets boring around the part where Jonny sings "Tailored sheets..."

I've liked them both. I really liked Downtown Battle Mountain and Whatever I Say Is Royal Ocean was alright too, but the new DGD album is just eww. Old Emarosa reminded me a lot of The Devil Wears Prada, just not quite as good as TDWP, so it was alright. I love Relavtivity, it reminds me a lot of old DGD, but not completely identical styles, which makes Emarosa seem more than just "what DGD used to be".
So Dance Gavin Dance is best (Downtown Battle Mountain).

I love both albums, i thought Relativity was boring the first few listens but it's one of those things that take time to grow on you. I'd have to go with DGD with this one

i have to say that i liked the older versions of both bands better(a screaming emarosa and jonny craig dgd)

if i have to pick between the newer versions, i'd say the new emarosa. the new dgd stuff sounds good and kurt has a great voice bu the new screamer is terrible and i don't like "fuck" being said virtually every line

Because I haven't listened to the new DGD, I'm going with Emarosa for now. "The Past Should Stay Dead" gets me hyped up now the same way "And I Told Them I Invented Times New Roman" used to.

"Me and Zoloft" is damn good though, so as I listen more to the new disc, DGD may become my favorite again.

When Johnny from Agraceful was with Emarosa, thy were even mroe amazing than they are now, however without johnny, dance gavin dance and emarosa are now kinda put into different genres... you know?

i personally prefer dance gavin dance over the new emarosa and it would be very difficult to choose between the two if johnny was still with emarosa...

New Emarosa and new Dance Gavin Dance are pretty different genres, so its tough to compare them, and mostly a matter of opinion. They're touring together in September, so you can decide after seeing them back to back if you're still unsure.

I really can't believe how many people are hating on Jonny Craig! Ok, so DGD is clearly heavier than Ema and Relativity is a lot softer than their older stuff, but hey, things change. I must admit, I like the flows going on in Happiness alot. It's not as heavy at Downtown Battle Mountain, but I think's its a great record, just for different reasons. I don't think Kurt is a better singer than Jonny at all, but I like the way DGD has gone to accomodate his style.

For anyone who has seen Emarosa live with Jonny, the dude kills it. His voice is phenominal, and for anyone who listens beyond just a first look you can really find the subtle nuances that make him an awesome vocalist. Plus, if you're lucky enough to catch Emarosa at a smaller venue (every time they come to Buffalo they play this skatepark that has a shitty stage inside it) you can always catch the Ema dudes hanging around. I've hung out and had conversations with Jonny at least twice and despite the fact that he's one of the best vocalists around and has an attitude on stage he's a really nice guy and always gives everyone a chance to hang.

I guess the point is, don't hate cause DGD and Ema aren't what they used to be, because they simply aren't what they used to be. Take the time to dig the new directioins.
