I think he'll need at least one outstanding album for him to really make an impact on me but his last two records have been consistent.
Still a little too much filler on LFTC but that's to be expected from mainstream hip-hop records these days.
I love Lupe. Saw him on the Glow in the Dark tour and he was great!

The song is called US Placers. The name of the group (Lupe, Kanye, Pharrell) is Child Rebel Soldier, which is where you got CRS from. Thom Yorke is indeed featured on the track and it would be awesome if he contributes to a few songs in the future as well.

it's not true. i guarantee that at least half of that album's lyrics went completely over your head.
honestly guys download some of his mixtapes. some of the most complex lyrics i've ever heard are on a lot of these songs. check out "lupe the killa", "mean & vicious" and "failure" for starters. once you sit down and analyze these lyrics (could literally take hours to fully understand all the metaphors, but most likely you won't get them all), then try to make the argument that he's overrated.

lupe isn't overrated at all. for someone to be overrated they should be getting more credit than than they deserve. lupe doesn't really even get that much credit. shoot on the hottest mc's thing they did on mtv this past year had him all the way back at number 7 and barely discussed him at all. the most credit he gets is from his true fans who are baffled at the people that don't realize how good he is. lupe rarely gets mention as compared to countless other rappers out there right now. i'm having a hard time understanding how he could be "overrated"

I definitely agree with the last part of your post. He consistently has the best lyrics, his beats are tight, and still, he gets less attention than less skilled MC's. I think the problem is outlined in your last post to me, the lyrics go right over people's heads.

i personally think more people should listen to lupe fiasco. he's bloody amazing. Food and Liquor is must album on everyone list!. i finally get to see him in january 09 even though this he's third trip to Australia.
he's going to retire after the release of his last album (triple disc) in 2009. so make the most of seeing him.

I just saw him in concert last week at Club Nokia - it was definitely one of the best concerts I've ever been to. He's so talented, and aside from loving his music, his live band was on point. The sound quality was amazing and I had a really good time. I love Lupe.

He is working on a new album called Lasers. Technically it doesn't have a release date although I saw it posted that it was coming out in December. It will probably get pushed back though.
Am I the only one annoyed by the fact that he talks about his third album near the end of The Cool...but he changed the name of the album afterwards? Not because he changed it, but because I have to hear the incorrect name of the album every time I put on The Cool. Or maybe I'm just weird.

I never really listened to Lupe until we booked him last year for my college's homecoming. Really liked what I heard once I listened, and he was an awesome guy. We had to take him to Wal*Mart so he could buy t-shirts for his crew and he met a fan there and gave her a backstage pass. It was an awesome concert - so much energy it was ridiculous. And my friend walked in on him getting a massage after the concert, haha.

Why Atlantic Isn't Releasing Lasers:
This is a report from someone who attended Lupe's keynote at RACC Dayton (http://lupefiasco-lupend.blogspot.com/2010/10/dave-chappelle-x-lupe-fiasco-dayton.html).
Lupe said Atlantic wanted him to sign a contract that would give them 25% of anything he makes from shows or deals with other companies like Nike or whatever. (Sean's note: That's a 360 deal)
He told them NO so they threatened him by not pushing any of his new songs on the radio or giving him money to make the videos (the I'm Beamin' video came out of his own pocket).
Also they basically don't like his music or the way Lupe put it 'They think I'm whack'. So Atlantic sent him hooks they wanted him to do. He recorded them and sent them back but they didn't like them anymore and tried to have him change the hooks like 60 different times. In the end he had enough.

He said he didn't care who puts an album out, it won't be better than his haha. I don't if he was on something that night or what, but that just makes me even more stoked for the album.

The Cool and The Instrumental are two of the very few hip hop songs I like.
Listened to a radio interview w/ Lupe. He was asked what his favorite song on Lasers was. He said "All Black Everything". He said it's rare as an artist to have a song you're 100% proud of but he says this track is one of his favorite songs of all time. Awesome.

I usually drink about 3 cans of Diet Mountain Dew a day. In addition I usually have one of the 32oz fountain Diet Cokes from Quick Check or 7-11. yummmm I have a problem

Haha, I usually wake up to two cans of Diet Coke, have three while at work, a few with meal(s) and two after the gym. Really smart. I drink it wayyy to much and am trying to cut back hard.
