A message from Fear Before the March of Flames (http://www.marchofflames.com):

"we want to apologize for last night's show in cleveland at the Odeon. the story is that when you combine a money hungry promoter who puts 8 local bands on the show, and makes each band sell 100 tickets for 10 bucks a piece or pay the difference (one local band HAD to pay $350 out of their pocket to play the show!) and combine it with technical difficulties and us not being allowed to express our frusteration about everyone getting ripped off by cutting our power you get one bum night. thanks to all the kids that were so cool to us after we played. it means so much to us. for anyone from the cleveland area that would like to hang out with us, we will be playing a show in Canton, OH at 'Fallen Eyes r&r venue (http://www.falleneyes.com)' on tuesday night with our friends Adios (http://www.adiosrock.com), and our tour mates Fire When Ready (http://www.firewhenready.com). one of the locals that got ripped off last night will also be playing (i apologize for not remembering their name, but they are awesome dudes).. please come out and have a good time with us! thanks so much for all the support. we appreciate it more than you will ever know. FearBefore"

yes unfortunately there are still venues that do this...The whiskey a go go in hollywood is one of them...but its a business to them not about helping kids or about the music...they only see dollar signs ...sigh

Hardcore Marketing is the promoter that ran that show and being in a band from the Cleveland area myself, I'm familiar with their tactics and am not surprised by this one bit. I was a fan of FBTMOF before hearing this, but knowing that they stuck up for the locals and did this makes me like them even more. It's cool to hear about bands that are doing so well still being so down to earth.

I recommend the show at Fallen Eyes tomorrow too. It's a really cool venue to attend and to play at. They've given us very cool shows with Anadivine and The Evan Anthem and still paid us well even though not a lot of kids showed up. Very upstanding guys there. Adios are a good time too. So yeah, if you're from Ohio, go.

what also sucks is the fact that canton is a good 1 1/2 to 2 hours from cleveland. Fuck the Odeon...it should have been at the grog shop

canton is only 50 mins from cleveland, its not that bad. and its all on I-77, so its easy. plus the fact that Fallen Eyes is such a great venue and the fact that the Canton show has a great bill makes is worth the drive.

Speaking of the Whisky in Hollywood, when my band (Dead Letter Diaries) played there this past month on our tour w/ Yesterdays Rising, we heard that one of teh locals on the show had to pay $900 of their own money just to play. Worst of all, the venue put them on as the 9th band at 12:30 on a Tuesday night. Basically they payed $900 to play infront of 10 friends, thats so jacked by the venue, they didnt even get a good slot to play infront of a packed crowd and make new fans. ahhhhh, its really frustrating sometimes. It sucks bands have to go through this. You should never have to pay to play.

Yeah, I've played the Whisky in local bands several times and it sucks. The Roxy up the street is that way too. They usually have like 4 local bands opening up for each show too. Its a really shitty deal.

peabodys also would have been fine. the norma jean/underoath show there was the best show i've been to in cleveland. mainly because the kids there are jackasses.

TRUE TIL DEATH.

This was one of the worst shows I have EVER been to. The odeon's website said the show started at 5 with NO mention of the local bands. I LOVE fear before and rushed out of work to get to this show so i wouldn't miss them. I drove 2.5 hours to only sit through 4 hours of local bands! The thing that made this show so bad was the "hardcore" kids which I cannot stand. They (like just about everyone in the hardcore scene) had no respect at all for fear before. I think that's another reason their set was cut short. There were also 4 fights during between the buried and me because those testosterone-filled idiots can't appreciate a band and go to shows just for breakdowns. But this post is about fear before and much love goes out to them for being one of the best and hardest working bands out there today.
