I'm an amateur music mixer, just starting. I need some major help. I use Audacity and am inspired by people like the Legion of Doom, Party Ben, and The UnforgettableSound (Unsigned mixer on Youtube). Right now I just want to mash songs. Remixing can come later. If anyone does this or knows any tips, I'd appreciate your input. (And I know how to use the system. Just can't get the "flow" of mixing)
I would think transitioning from different time signatures would be key to get that "flow" you are talking about. I think what would help is if you add your own beats (I don't know if you are doing that already) to the songs and then work on work on fading and blending the beats to help with the transition to a new song.

I think there's less involvement with time signatures, really, than with making sure your songs are in the right key. You can't use a song in the key of C and a song in the key of F#, it won't work. You'll need to modulate the pitch of your tracks to make sure they're in the right key. I don't know where people get the individual tracks for mashups, like just vocals, just guitars, etc, or if they separate them themselves in some program. I can tell you that you'll probably need more than Audacity to get to a point such as the artists you've mentioned, though.

Oh I know Audacity won't get me there. lol. But Like I said, I'm still new at this and I have to start somewhere, right? Thanks for the tips, both of you. But I'm not sure how to tell the time sigs or the pitches. Really, I'm a total retard at this.
