best and worst you've seen?
got any music related tattoos or plans for one?

best: 'the earth is not a cold dead place' across a guy's chest.
worst: the strung out logo (the atom thing?) on a guy's arm.
i have a little one on my foot that says 'float on' that reminds me to not let stupid shit bother me. and no plans for any new ones.

I've been wanting to get the Alkaline Trio skull logo for years and hopefully will finally get it in January '09 when my tattooist gets back from the UK.

The most amazing musical inspired tattoo I have ever seen was in Mexico, we met a guy who had the classic Smiths lyric "There is a light that never goes out" across the shoulder blades and a full backpiece of a silohoutted man hanging from a noose in a tree with an indescribable landscape portrait of an ocean with foaming waves and a blazing sunset.

I wish I would have gotten a photo of it.

I have a tattoo that just reads ABH on my left bicep, the kids it's representative of all musically inspired me so I wanted to add on a treble clef staff and a bass clef staff beneath it with the notes A, B, and G ## (double sharp G to imply an H since unless you are studying crazy music located in Barbaric germany there is no 8th note H).

Also, crucify me now I know, I want the lyrics from the bridge of Seventy Times 7 tattooed on my left shoulder blade behind my heart, as to not keep it prominent because I've forgiven this situation, but always remind me not to mimic this mistake. When I was younger in about 7th grade I heard this song and someone very close to me was having alcohol related problems and I thought that it was about a similar situation, the whole "have another drink and drive yourself home".

Best advice I ever got was if you want a tattoo, decide what you want and wait ayear. If you still want it, get it. (you probably won't regret it).

In terms of music related tattoos I'd probably up that to ten years (at least). Musical tastes change. If you're still as much of a fan ten years later the lyrics (because that's all I'd ever consider getting) must mean a hell of a lot to you if you still connect with them.

I'm going to get a tattoo that i drew up with "laugh, love, live free, and sing" scrawled under it (from Anberlin's "Paperthin Hymn", probably my favorite song...) It sounds a little...cliche and peppy...but...if you overlook that it's something to aspire to...

i've always wanted black sabbath's s/t album cover on my upper arm or back but i could never. i fluctuate too often enough as it is anyway. i'd regret it, even though it would have significance. what a beautiful album cover it is though...
