and why does everyone like them. such great heights is a catchy song, but other than that, they're not THAT good

Um, nobody said they were awesome. They're not even really a band. It was just a compilation of vocals/production between Gibbard and Tamborello. Their own bands are the priorities... they just made some good music. Girls love that shit, eat it right up.

Give Up is one of my favorite records of all time. I wish beyond wishes that they would do another record.

If Glassjaw, The Postal Service, and The Blood Brothers all did one more record, I would be in heaven. I really hope the postal service does another one. It's not like there isn't a chance for another record from them. There's a pretty good chance.

I'm gonna go with the original poster on this one. "Such Great Heights" is a fantastic little ride, handclaps and all, but other than that, they bore me to death.

I think what makes them good is that they take a lot of the sounds and ideas from underground electronic stuff and apply it to sappy catchy mainstream pop songs that make you want to shake your butt and sing along. If you put any more thought into them than that then you're missing the point. It's not supposed to be cutting edge electronica, it's not supposed to be music that will change your life, it's just supposed to be a song that gets stuck in your head and happens to contain a bunch of weird noises and funky beats.

It's true. I eat this shit up.
Lol They are a real band. Wow. A compilation of vocals/production = an electronica album. Is ambient electronica a figment of my imagination? TPS > DCFC by far.

Yikes yikes yikes ay dios mio no. Postal Service is awesome, but with one album that was alright, maybe even good, but not great, there's no way that they are better than DCFC.

The reason why people love it so much is because it was a surprisingly good album for being put together over the internet by two good musicians.

Never been a big Death Cab fan  They're okay, but I find a lot of their stuff boring/repetitive.

Listened to Plans? Very little off that album is either boring or repetitive. I know where you're coming from with DCFC, but dig a little deeper. Ben Gibbard is a fantastic lyricist, and its on display waaaaaaaay more often with Death Cab than the Postal Service.

they did a cover of "against all odds" that was alright to. the intro takes forever, but they put it together really well.

Agreed. I love listening to the Postal Service on rainy days (even though we don't get many in California).

I personally thought that cover was horrible. Even worse was how they pimped it so hard on the Wicker Park soundtrack.
Tired of this album, haven't listened in ages. Not nearly as good as DCFC material.
