this obnoxious classification for music is starting to drive me nuts. one genre of music cannot kill another genre of music.. it just doesnt work like that. sorry if the bands of today aren't hardcore enough for your punk soul, but music is music.. classifications just get too complicated.

i wasn't referring to you specifically in fact i didn't even read the thread very well to be honest. Just a frustration of mine.. it just all depends what you think punk is you know? some people think of punk as including pop punk, emo, ska, screamo, hardcore etc.. some people have specific ideas as to what punk is, and they very. Its very difficult to say exactly what punk is, and therefore hard to say its dead.

not necessarily. I classify my music, but im careful with who i use that too because for some reason it makes people angry when you classify music differently than them.

but yeah, for me.. what i classify as "punk" is not dead, but my punk definition im sure is broader than yours. If the type of music im thinking of is what you classify as punk, yes id say thats dead.

im kind of like the record store where i just place "punk" as the big label over the majority of the music i enjoy. i dunno, its kinda lame.. "alternative" would probably be a better word, but im used to just saying punk when people ask me what kind of music i listen too.

and it certainly isn't punk by most other peoples standards.
