How big is their fan base here on ap.net?
I've seen a few people mention them but not that many, just wondering if they had a good following here.
Personally a big fan, loved every album, seen them twice and they put on a great live show.
And Dallas is just one big huge talent.
I did search, a few came up but none were really an official thread, just chatter, so don't hate me for posting this, it's not that much of a massive inconvenience anyway is it?

Good call, I think I'd have to say Watch Out! is my favourite of the three. The self titled is great though, Crisis just seems a little tame for me, there's definitely something lacking but I can't tell what it is.

Self titled is awesome, it's like Watch Out! but a little more raw, the production sounds a bit sketchier, but the songs are some of their finest, check it out if you get the chance.
Great dudes, love their music.

Yeah good tracks! Probably the same for me.
I saw City & Colour in London in a chapel, absolutely incredible, he is flawless live.
And I met him after, such a nice, quiet guy, he took one of my band's EPs!

I liked them a lot when I was 14-15ish. First song that got me into them was Polaroids of Polar Bears, what a fantastic song. I still listen to them and think they're still just as great. Seeing them live is never a disappointment either.

I listened to Watch Out! and S/T constantly when I was about 15, lost their stuff, heard This Could Be... when it came out, fell in LOVE with those drums. Recently got all 3 albums after slacking for 3 years.
And I know Crisis isn't as strong, but I adore Dallas' voice in every single song. And Wade's on Boiled Frogs.
The whole album is just rather lovely.
Still a complete fan girl for (This is where I spent 5 minutes listing the majority of songs.) In short. Fan girl. Insert screaming and biting of fist heeeeere.

thats surprising actually. you seem to fit into the perceived "hipster" stereotype here on AP so well that alexisonfire is just this huge wild card coming from you. fortunately, people on AP dont know what hipster means and dont realize that the people they're calling hipsters are actually diverse music listeners.

Baha, yeah I always seem to shock people with this one :3. Hah, Do I really? Some of my friends are "hipsters", I'm always teasing them about it. The you know, thrifty, cafe bookstore, bike riding, kinda folks. Not that that's really what makes a hipster but you know where I'm going. I mean that really never crossed my mind before so that's interesting. I'll throw another wild one on ya though, Alexisonfire helped get me into some of what I listen to today, definitely. I'm not ashamed to say that, I mean I'd think everyone had to start somewhere.

I need some new alexis and they stopped updating their studio blog about 2 weeks ago. I've been pretty upset.

I just submitted this to news, but the new single from Old Crows / Young Cardinals is being released to radio on Monday. Its official release date is the following Monday (the 27th). I'm not sure what the "official release" means, maybe iTunes or something.

Yeah Crisis leaked about 6 weeks early. So if it follows that trend, we should see it leak in 2-3 weeks. I guess it depends on how closely it's guarded...some labels are more careful than others.

I hope No Rest isn't the single, wasn't really impressed with what I've heard. Of course that was crappy youtube quality.
George will be on 102.1 The Edge radio at 3:30pm EST today to do an interview and the first single, "Young Cardinals", will be played.
Could anyone here stream The Edge (http://www.edge.ca/ --> click on "listen live") and record the interview and the song? That would be phenomenal!!!

Not gonna lie, alexis is my favorite band, but I wasn't hugely impressed by that. I was worried that George's voice was gonna be it's downfall, but it's not too different if you ask me.
I recorded so I'll just convert it and such, should be ready tomorrow. Not sure If i'm allowed to post it, so if you want it PM me. I'll send the interview with the track and the track by itself.
Colour me impressed. I loved Young Cardinals. Check out the forums at alexisonfire.ca to get a download link to the radio rip. :)

Dallas explodes into almost every song, from track one you start to think this is the most catchy and powerful chorus you've ever heard. Then you hear track 2, and you change your mind. CD is great from start to finish but will never be better than the S/T or watch out!

Crisis was awesome, so this should be amazing.
My favorite CD! I know I will probably be called insane but I would say Crisis>Old Crows/Young Cardinals>Watch Out>S/T. But I love every CD.
The more I listen to the new record, the more I love it.
Me too. It is a very good record. My favorite songs are the first five.

Oooooh. Didn't end up making it to Edgefest, I was out of town. That's good news though.
AOF news roundup:
-Album's out today! $3.99 is a good deal for the MP3's (http://www.amazon.com/Old-Crows-Young-Cardinals/dp/B002E5T2E4/ref=pe_19690_12379620)
-You can still stream the album (http://aof.vagrant.com/)
-They're doing a signing at the big HMV in Toronto in, um, 5 minutes. Then at an HMV in St. Catherine's at 4pm.
-Free show tonight at L3 in St. Catherine's. Argh I want to go but I'm not sure I'll be able to get there in time to actually get in.
-I've heard they have something to do with this weird "people in darkness" site (http://www.peopleindarkness.com/) but I'm not sure what exactly the deal is.
I'm so incredibly jealous of you Toronto kids.

Awesome performance, IMO. You can't expect Dallas to sound like he does on the record, I'm used to that now. By the way, that People in Darkness site turned into an AOF promotional thing today, no more of that weird creepy guy, haha.
And about the L3 show - 800 people waiting, yeah, can't say I'm even surprised. A free show in their hometown? That's a recipe for chaos. I would have LOVED to be there, though. Argh!

How big is their fan base here on ap.net?
I've seen a few people mention them but not that many, just wondering if they had a good following here.
Personally a big fan, loved every album, seen them twice and they put on a great live show.
And Dallas is just one big huge talent.

This is definitely their weakest album, in my opinion. Nothing will ever compare to Self-Titled, and certainly not Watch Out! Those albums were flawless. Crisis was weak, and the vocals started going downhill on that album. I appreciate Dallas' vocals as much as anyone, but George's vocals are what made Self-Titled & Watch Out! so amazing. Even their instrumentals have gone downhill, Self-Titled definitely showed their ability the best. Watch Out! had THE perfect blend of Dallas & George. I'm not saying this album is a total fail, because I bought it, and I listen to it..and I enjoy some of the songs, but I'm definitely disappointed..

The self/titled took a few really good listens for me to get into. I've really grown to appreciate it recently. To me it is better, again only by a slim margin though. There seems like there was more thought put into the songs than on the S/T. (in fact i believe there is an interview were they say the songs on S/T were put together so quickly that they didn't really have time to work on them.) I think the S/T has more standout tracks, but that's because there are a few filler tracks in there that really make the better songs stand out. Crisis is far more consistent in my opinion. Why would you be sorry that there my favorite band? They write great music about almost any subject and they put on a great live show. Nothing to be sorry about really.

Loved them at warped in Calgary this year. Watch out is the my favorite due to the fact that all of the songs stand out for one another. I do enjoy all of the albums at certain times. They each have their place.

I agree with you to an extent. The second half does have it's standouts, namely Emerald Street and Burial.
Yeah I'm not sure if I agree. The Northern is right at the midway point, and it's arguably the best song on the album.
But hey, to each his own.

one of my favorite bands. Steele is a mad ping pong fan, and surely has skills to prove it. super nice dudes ever!
i love every song on the Crisis album, but Watch Out! is definitely a classic.

I love this band! They were at Wapred last year and I didn't see them because I didn't know them until maybe like February of this year! It's a real bummer, I'll see them someday though!

I'm just now getting into OC/YC. It's not as bad as I thought it was gonna be. Some songs are a little weak and the screaming sucks for the most part.
Once I really got into OC/YC I started to appreciate it for what it is, rather than what I wanted it to be. I was expecting Crisis mk.2 really. Crisis is still one of the albums that remains as perfect road-trip material, especially as my cousin who I do most travelling with absolutely fucking loves that album too.
Is it supposed to be Alexis on fire, or Alex is on fire?

This is so true. First listen I hated it because I was like wtf this isn't what alexis are about, but the more I listened the more it kind of came into it's own. I still think there are some weak tracks on there, but Midnight Regulations and Emerald Streetin particular show the band at the height of their powers I'd say.

Considering their performance at Soundwave this year I reckon this tour is going to be pretty sweet. Have they announced the supports yet though? Anything I've seen just says special guests?

What tour? I missed this.
Also just wanted to add, "Charlie Sheen Vs. Henry Rolins has to be on of the best driving songs ever.
