Does anyone else have a hard time trying to motivate themselves academicly? I just got my grades in today and I got a 2.0. I know I could get a 3.5 or higher if I really tried, and I want to get good grades but I don't ever want to put the effort into studying and doing homework. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to snap out of it?

One day I just realized that I had to apply myself. I went from having a B average to an A in the span of a year. Everyone realizes it at some point and if you don't then maybe school isn't the right thing for you. Have you considered getting involved in a trade like auto-mechanic, or electrician?

That shit has happened to me since Middle School. I got horrible grades in middle school and high school and now that I'm in college i'm doing alright (3.0) but it's hard to get my shit done, I'm the King of Procrastination, I'm always just bored with it. I have no idea how someone would solve the problem but if anyone has any advice I would like to hear it as well.

definitely me. i procrastinate way too much and I hardly apply myself. I think it's because I pull off acceptable grades with no effort so I don't try that hard but I know I can do so much better than what I am getting. I haaaaaaaaate reading text books and studying, but I'm going to start trying harder.

I like making those close to me happy, getting good grades will make them happy, which'll make me happy...that's what motivates me...I have a 3.93 first semester freshman year.
I'm an introverted loser too so...that's probably why I'm so up there.

You're kool in my book.
I'm a senior this year. First marking period...I believe I got a 3.7. Could be better, but it doesn't suck.
i have no motivation... i'm cruising through my senior year of high school!

but see, you people are missing the main problem that I have. You all seem to be not motivated but getting alright grades. A 2.0 is not good.

well the 2.0 should be enough motivation to get you to start working harder. You know you can do better. show yourself and everyone else... easier said than done, i know.. but it's just something you have to do on your own.

Wah?
My motivation is just remembering how badly I did freshman year and how much I regret it. I don't want to feel that way again. I also expect a lot of out myself now so anything lower than an A just isn't acceptable anymore.

I have a friend who drinks and smokes every waking moment he has and got a 1490 on the SATS without a problem. I get decent grades with little effort, but he's ridiculous.

Me too. I have a 4.2 gpa and i never do homework. I feel bad sometimes because there are people who work really hard and get average grades. If grades were based on effort I would be failing.

Don't feel bad. Just don't take it for granted and do something good with your gift.
