As most of you know, Day At The Fair (www.adayatthefair.com) have signed to Rushmore Records (www.rushmorerecords.com). Drive-Thru Records (www.drivethrurecords.com) (although a little late) released an official statement on their site regarding this. It's pretty funny and you can check it out in the replies.

Although a little late (due to the holidays) we are very excited to announce our newest Rushmore signing...Day At The Fair. In 1999/2000, the singer/guitarist Chris Barker actually moved from NJ to CA to work for Drive-Thru Records. Outs of the numerous employees over the years, Chris was the 2nd worst employee we've ever had. Lazy, sloppy, irresponsible and unmotivated are a few adjectives that come to mind. Back when our office was in our garage, he shared a desk wire Josh (our graphic designer). Chris would leave wrappers from In-N-Out all over the desk, leave his sweaty big gulps on Josh's scanner...garbage everywhere. The best was when he would go run some "errands" for us, go home and play video games, then roll back into work around 3 hours later. After we moved into our first office, Chris insisted on "wiring" our phone system for us by draping wires through the panels in our drop ceiling. If you could've seen the patchwork shockfest you'd be shocked. Why, you may be asking yourself, did we not fire him? We did. But it took a long time because we were friends with Chris, and he was a really nice guy. We were huge fans of his old band Lanemeyer, who were big in the NJ scene. After Chris was shit-canned he moved back to NJ and formed a new band. We were thrilled to discover that his songwriting skills were lightyears beyond his office skills. We know first-hand, Chris was not born to work in an office. Anyway, congratulations to both of us (Day At The Fair and Rushmore). We're very excited to be working with such an awesome band, and a good friend!
Quick aside: Chris's driver's license said "Chris Baker" although his last name is really Barker. Chris never bothered to have this fixed.

Fucking A...I first learned about the signing about 3 weeks ago and I was fucking stoked. I've been a fan of (A) Day at the fair for quite a while and they deserve it. Now I hope they go and take over the world. I'm surprised the haters haven't started attacking them yet.hmmm....I probably spoke too soon. :headshake
