I've been seeing a ton of promos for this new series on CBS. Looks like Simone Baker plays some sort of awesome detective that's able to think outside of the box in order to solve crimes. Anybody seen these promos on tv? I'll post it below:

This looks super lame - and if I'm a TV network exec and some fucking hack comes in with a shitty script with the innane title of "The Mentalist" - I don't waste my time reading the piece of this I kick him in the teeth. CBS brings the suck

If I'm a TV Exec I see the script, and realize how successful previous crime dramas have been... so clearly the public enjoys watching this genre. And that The Mentalist has a different tone then any others I've seen on TV. It's is obviously a genre that's been tapped in to before, but as long as the show has its own unique tone I'll tune in. We'll see how tonights first episode is... on at 9pm.

The problem with that is it doesn't have a different tone. This show IS Psych with different actors.

Psych is a comedy, while Mentalist is a drama... so right there is a different tone. It's not like Scrubs and ER are the same show, just because it's doctors in a hospital.

while the premise is extremely similar, i did watch the first ep, and it wasn't too bad

I stopped watching it this season and skipped right to the finale and i was uber impressed. Even though there was no reasons for him to be at the mall...but hey, whatever works.

Don't tell me what happens, but after watching the penultimate episode tonight (Britain is clearly a bit behind) I'm excited for it. Looks good
