Just wondering what everybody is thinking of the Foo's so-called "hiatus" and what it holds for the future of these guys, one of my favorite bands.

I was saddened considering they're in my all-time top 3, but honestly, Dave isn't gonna quit anytime soon. this won't be a permanent thing. maybe it's a good thing too, last 3 albums don't hold a candle to their first 3, but I still love em.

I agree mostly on One By One and In Your Honor not being as good, with the exception of a few songs. But I thoroughly enjoyed Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace. Sure, it's no Colour and the Shape, but it was damn good. Definitely started the comeback I thought they were going to make.

For me In Your Honor was as good as ESPG but in different ways. I still wish they would go back to their old style but it won't happen so I hope they find a way to master a new type of sound for them. I think it would be great if they made a folk album with some other stuff thrown in.

Kind of like a studio version of Skin and Bones, type stuff?

I agree that they will come back, but most bands only stick around for 4 albums at the most. We should just be happy that Dave has been involved in music for as long as he has

Yeah definitley. I really enjoy their accoustic work and I think they are well suited for it. Of course I would still rather them make a Colour And Shape type album but it just won't happen. I just feel like they are progressing to a much more mellow type sound.

which there's nothing wrong with that at all. They're good either way, In my opinion.

I appreciate TINLTL more and more each time I listen. a return to that sort of sound would be feasible

TINLTL is pretty decent. The problem that I have had with the latest Foo albums after C&P is that they seem to be always built around the singles and the other songs much worse. I mean there are exceptions to this but the tracks that always stay with me seem to be the singles.

When thinking of Dave, I think of the Foo Fighters, not Nirvana. So he really has been around when you add the two together in albums and years

for One By One that is definetly the case, but I don't feel so about the others. ESP&G has some awesome album tracks, and TINLTL has "Gimme Stitches", "Auora(sp?)", and "Headwires", which are arguably three of the Foo's best tunes

True, it just seems that way to me, I always seem to skip over lots of album tracks, even some of the better ones.

true that. he's gotta a lot more experience than people give him credit for.

i love gimme stitches and aurora, but headwires was always just alright to me. don't know why.
I liked their first and second albums. After that, I didn't like them.

how come?
They started getting more stale as their career went by.
Shame too, Everlong is an especially awesome song.

I don't see why this can't go in the official thread or the news post thread.
