Fear Before/Damiera/I Am The Ocean/three local acts
Saturday, September 30, 2008
The Agora Ballroom
Cleveland, OH
We missed all three of the local acts.
I Am The Ocean was okay. But they played for what seemed like forever - 45 minutes or so.
I didn't like Damiera. They had a short set.
Fear Before was good. They had a full light show with strobes, light boxes, and smoke. And it was quite awesome and went well with the music. The band sounded good, and the new songs seem like they are going to work well live. The setlist was a good mix of all four albums and the small crowd was in to it the whole time wile the bands energy was also quite high. The only real problem I had with the set was the vocalist said over and over and over more than once about the release date of their album, it was a little annoying. Their set was about an hour and they played twelve songs. The setlist is correct and in order.
Treeman
Should Have Stayed In The Shallows
Given To Dreams
Drowning The Old Hag
I'm Fine Today
High As A Horse
Complete And Utter Confusion...
Get Your Life Together
Mouth
Fashion Tips Baby
Law Of Averages
A Gift Of Fiction
About 50-75 people were at the show, which was a big disappointment but I enjoyed Fear Before. It was worth the ticket price (I actually won tickets) and time, even though Fear Before did not go on until 11:05 PM (ended at 12:05 AM) because of all of the three locals.
Before the show me and my friends hung out with the bassist of Fear Before when we got there. We talked about life, Travis Barker/DJ AM, music/touring, trends in music/media/magazines, etc. We hung out in the van with him and keyboardist and got to hear six out of ten of the songs on the new album and I mostly liked what I heard. The new album sounds completely different from there pervious stuff, like usual. It is really heavy, catchy, dark, and different. That might not make sense now but it will once you hear the album The Fall Of Troy and HeavyHeavyLowLow singers both make appearances on the album. Overall, a good time but there were too many local bands.
