The Scene Point Fiasco Begins.

So, myself and a few random forum users got bored (huge shout out to ohlookitspaul for the idea), and we decided to convert the boring forum "reputation" sytem into a much cooler "scene points" system. Now all members of the website can give and take away "scene points" to users via each post. There are some rules about how many points you can give or take (scene power) and you can read more about that here (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=56159). You can give or take scene points by either clicking the word "scene points" in any post or clicking the "check / x" button in the upper right hand corner of all posts, and you can check your own scene points (and comments) via your user control panel (http://www.absolutepunk.net/usercp.php?). Also, users that have been here 120 days, have at least 900 scene points and at least 5000 posts will now be automatically promoted to "prestigious" user status and given access to the "members only forum (http://www.absolutepunk.net/forumdisplay.php?f=118)." So if you're not currently a member: sign up, you'll get scene points without having to buy girls jeans.

I've seen other content rich site do this before. www.ESReality.com (currently down) has a +/- system for user posts. They eventually removed the [-] (minus) button due to abuse, but the [+] button remained. Respected users or comedic posters would receive a high Popularity percentage. It's all good fun :).
