I've been a fan of these guys since not long after their first CD, A Place For You, came out and they do pop-punk the way that it should be done. Now, with their new EP, The Longest Way Home is out, I can't help but feel the same way (though the vocals on the single do sound a little auto-tuned).

Anyone else a fan?

Based on that video, I can't tell what separates them from the rest of the popular modern pop-punk crowd. Catchy, sure, but... They do say "fuck", which I guess makes them kinda edgy.

Deffinatly shouldnt have been there cuz they were the only pop-punk band there,
And all the bro guys didnt like them.

I have heard bits and pieces of their new EP and it sounds awesome. I don't know why they didn't get on Warped or some other good tours. I looked at their myspace and do not see anything past mid June - maybe the new EP will help in bringing them to the masses.

On the Yeah Management website - http://yeahmanagement.wordpress.com/ it says This Time Next year will be releasing their debut full length. “Road Maps and Heart Attacks,” produced by Brian McTernan (Circa Survive, The Movie Life, Senses Fail) on July 7, 2009 with Equal Vision Records. A 7″ / EP featuring 2 new tracks “New Sensation” and “Alex In Wonderland” will be out on May 24th.

So I guess we will hear new music- “New Sensation” on the 5/24!

For some reason that seems like an interesting comparison to me even though they are both pop punk bands. I liked the new song they played live when I saw them and I liked both New Sensation and the new version of Alex in Wonderland so I am pretty sure I will like this release. A little off topic, but have you heard the new Swellers record yet Chris? Just curious what it is like.

I'd consider This Time Next Year nothing but pop-punk.

"New Sensation" is a good single choice -- very much the standout "accessible" hit of the group here.

I have heard new Swellers and I love it. It's more melodic than My Everest yet very mature; this is a smalltown group of guys writing working-class songs for average people, ya know? It's definitely going to please people and I think it could be their shining moment, the record that people remember them for.

Very impressed with the album. I was afraid I was getting another Fireworks' CD where it has some really strong songs but is bogged down with filler. What? They've been on plenty of tours with "these bands". They toured with Four Year Strong/Title Fight/Set Your Goals/The Wonder Years etc. And they're playing with The Wonder Years again late dec. early jan. Also played a bit of Warped Tour 2010.

Where has TTNY been since their short stint on Warped Tour? And where were they before? Nowhere except England for a week or so- Look at all the other bands - they are playing all over all of the time - 1 show with The Wonder Years? Bands that are unsigned play more tours than they get. I do not get it.

Yea, those band are literally their "crowd".

I really can't remember how I started listening to these guys, but it was around fall 09 I think. "Sweetest Air" is one of the only songs I would ever consider stating as my favorite song of all time. It was also one of the first songs I tabbed out for guitar. Every guitar part. All rhythm, all lead - every part. Awesome band

RM+HA has such a great lasting value - one of the best in the genre in the past few years.

It's really a shame that whenever discussion is brought up about the "best up and coming pop punk bands", this band fails to be included.
I think its cause there name is rather generic and easy to forget. i have like 4 or 5 bands on my ipod that have similar names. it is a shame though.

New song is totally awesome. I will rep TTNY to the fullest, always. Easily one of the best, most real pop-punk bands in the scene today. I've been into them since around the time A Place For You came out, but then I saw them on that Swellers tour and my love for them was multiplied a ton. I've seen them pretty much every time they've played Long Island since then. Road Maps and Heart Attacks is a great record; It flows well and is always a good listen. I'm very stoked on the new stuff, because it seemed like they definitely stepped up their game. Plus, the drop out of life "movement" is something I can definitely relate to.

They are also so damn cool. They've always been down to chat with me at shows and even sent a song out to me once. Shit was crazy.

^^Agreed with everything. I was into TTNY way before I heard about The Wonder Years/MO/Transit, etc... These guys are for real. Surprised they didn't get on Warped Tour though.

Agreed, that was a big mistake on the labels part (or whoever made that decision, I have no idea)

I only recently got into these guys, can't wait to hear this new album! Although, again, come Sep.27th, I'll be listening to Neighborhoods for weeks on end..... so Drop Out Of Life will have to wait.

haha yeah, trust me, I'm one of the biggest TTNY fans you'll find (check my avatar), but nothing gets in the way of Blink that week. Although, I mean, if people are going to the record store to buy the Blink album they could pick up this one as well. So it maybe could work in their favor if played right.

I'm torn about pre-ordering the album. I really want the vinyl, but the package for the CD are pretty awesome. I'll probably just grab that and then snag the tour-only version vinyl. Very surprised at how awesome the packages were for this album. Sometimes you never really know with pre-orders.

I couldn't access the stream because I'm not in the ol' USA, so I've only been able to make do with the 3 songs released so far. Spoontonic is absolutely amazing though, the chorus is awesome! About halfway through the album and it's very good so far. Not gonna lie though, I miss the grittier dual vocals that made me like the band so much and made tracks like "Sweetest Air" so amazing. just think that was more of a unique sound. The stuff they're doing now is still really great though.

This album is absolutely spectacular. It shattered all of my expectations and just rocks so hard. I'm a little bummed at there being only 3 Brad appearances, but I don't hear many places for him anyway. Pete is an awesome singer and holds it down regardless. Loving these lyrics as well.

Well, I love it. Plain and simple. I still think Spoontonic might be my favorite, but Modern Day Love Story and Better Half are also super fabulicious! And not to beat a dead horse, but I'm also a little gutted that Brad didn't sing as much on the record. I was hoping for at least one Alex In Wonderland-type switch vocals song, but alas... 'twas not to be. Still, this album is alot better than I had hoped! Blew me away!

I personally think this one is better than Road Maps. For me, the only advantage Road Maps has over Drop Out Of Life is that it has more Brad vocals, but other than that, Drop Out just 1-ups everything else. I love the new record, and have no doubt that it'll be in my top 5 albums of this year, right up there with Neighborhoods and Suburbia :D

It does sound a lot like NFG, but that doesn't turn me off at all.

Prime example of NFG sound: On the Title Track, during the bridge the "Here We Go" scream reminds me so much of All Downhill From Here when chad yells "YOU KEEP PULLING ME DOWN".
