hey

just interested to see how drinking is viewed by people in other countries? Like how much do you drink on a night out and stuff?

I don't drink that often since schools's back in but during the summer I usually drank till I couldn't pick up my cup anymore. I wouldn't make it a habit (like everyday from dusk till dawn like some people I know) I know how to get my shit done so it's not a issue for me.

lol would you be able to quantify that at all? im researching drinking cultures in youth for university. i know the level of drinking in the States is quite different from NZ where im from. Normally when we go out we do a 40 race before we get to a club then carry on there

thanks for helping me with my homework :P

i don't drink ever.. and i don't hold anything against those who do. they make things entertaining.. or embarrassing for themself.

Usually "too often." I drink about 3-5 times per week, mostly to relieve myself from a strenuous academic schedule. Not necessarily getting heavily intoxicated, but just going to a bar and having a couple drinks and chatting with friends. Otherwise, for the most part, there's simply nothing better to do -- at least in my opinion.

i drink about 5x per week. Usually its just a few beers that I like to go out and enjoy with my friends. I drink a bit more on the weekends (usually hard alcohol), but nothing too outrageous.

I'll have a beer or a glass of wine with dinner probably 3 times a week. As for drinking for drinking's sake, once or twice a week, depending on how often my friends (and who those friends happen to be) decide to go out. I only get totally hammered once a month or so (last night was my September).

If I'm going to drink, I'm getting drunk. Fuck that little "getting a buzz" shit. I only drink about once a month, tho.

anyone who thinks theres never anything better to do than get drunk, really needs to find some friends, be more creative, and diversify themselves. alcohol is fun once in awhile but overrated.

just pitching in my two cents of bitterness coming from how lame the party scene is at my college. like im not anti-alcohol at all, i'll drink once in awhile, but it bothers me that its the ONLY thing that 90% of people here do for fun on weekends, and theres not even anything going on at parties, like not even music, its just getting drunk, playing beer pong, and getting laid. and drunk sex sucks so its not like thats even the bright side.

as for the thread writer do not base your opinion off of me, i am in the minority especially for college students my age.

I went to school in England, in one of the smaller towns... It being about 30 miles from London meant that it was a little more expensive than other places in the country, and with not much else to do, people turned to going out every single night.

This drives me crazy. I was raised outside of England, where the drinking culture was completely different (a night out for me was 3 hours in a bar sitting around talking with friends), and to be suddenly surrounded by people who considered it a good night to have a one night stand was a massive shock to me (and it still is).

As a few of us got more and more bored of this scene day after day, a night 'out' for us turned into sitting around for hours just playing video games, and causing general mayhem in our house.

a good night for me is homework done, running to the beer distributor/liquor store, getting a case/bottle and having some drinks with my roommates

I use to drink a lot on the weekends and at concerts, but as you know that laws here are so strict. My state has a no minor drinking law as do 6 other states. The others let you drink at family functions and at home. Do to that i have gotten three P.I.'s in a half of year. It's not because im being stupid or nothing like that, its just because im a minor. We are one of the few country's who care that much. Its rediculous.

I don't drink that often, and I've never drunk so much I forget what I've done, and I'm keeping it that way. I mean, it's fun, but somethings are better without alcohol. And somethings are better. Like skinny-dipping.

haha a 40 race is when you each start with a 40oz of like JB or JD or whatever and you leave once you finish. if anyone has a mare they get their head shaved or tied to a telephone pole. if it sounds stupid to many people its because it really is.

thanks for posting everyone its good to get the view of people rather than some academic idiot that has no idea.

I drink maybe 2 times a month sometmes more sometimes less depending on what I afford. When we go out, we go out to get drunk, never take like a beer or two unless it's just dinner. We just get a coke or have a quiet night in instead. People who go to university here usually drink thurday, friday and saturday.

I usually get drunk on thursday, friday and saturdays. A good night out is pre-gaming while skateboarding then going to the bars. I drink until my wallet's empty or until I can't walk(sometimes if I can't walk I'll just go sit at a table and keep on drinking)

To who? You? Exactly.

I absolutely drink every Friday and Saturday. My week is too busy for me to do much, so when the weekend comes around I'm ready to get sloppy. If I don't have any homework or I don't have to work, and the cash flow allows it, I'll drink on weeknights.

I rarely drink. like honestly this year I drank on new year's and then I think like three nights this summer. although I don't know... I'll probably drink more when I'm at an actual four year. when I do drink, I just like to drink with my friends, rather than a bunch of random kids.

Yeah, same here. Drunk strangers aren't as much fun as drunk friends.

When I go out I drink 1 or 2 Kriek (it's often called women's beer because it tastes really sweet).

In Belgium you can (legally) drink alcohol at 16, but at festivals, in bars... you can just order an alcoholic drink if you don't look like a 12 year old.

Most of my friends drink (a lot) more than I do, though.

Drinking is a common theme at art school. Everyone here and myself are so fucking busy all the time, all we do is sit and work for hours on end. So by the time the weekend comes around, we need a plethora of beer, or a stiff drink to temporarily forget about some huge project we're doing. it's nice to unwind. I probably drink 2-4 times a week. it really depends. lately, all I want to do is drink, school is driving me into a wall. I try to save it for the weekends, but sometimes it slips into my week nights.

I drink heavily, daily. I do go to UCSB though so it's kind of just the social norm.
