View Full Version : Which Green: Anthony or Dallas?

My vote goes to Dallas Green, since City And A Colour is pretty decent.

I dislike Saosin, I hate Circa Survive, and I can't stand The Sounds Of Animals Fighting. Haven't heard Anthony Green's solo stuff, but I don't expect to be very fond of any of it.

Although I like both and I think Anthony is the better singer, Dallas isn't too far behind and I love Alexisonfire. So he got my vote.

What a bunch of collectively stupid answers.

Both Anthony Green and Dallas Green have incredible voices. Anthony's is ridiculously high, which somehow fits the music he makes, but can also get inredibly annoying.

Dallas Green's voice shouldn't be judged on the basis of those who have heard Alexisonfire. His voice is lost in that band. To the few posters who think that Dallas Green doesn't have a good voice, listen to "Hello, I'm in Delaware" by City and Colour, and change your mind. I don't know many people who can hit that note at the end.

haha, its only a Bb. anyone with a tenor II range or above can hit it without too much straining and some baritones can. he goes two notes higher than that, hitting a C in the alexisonfire song "no transitory".

but i will say dallas has more control over his voice than practically any "scene" singer i know of

yeah well i mean im not really a singing expert per se im still working on my technique but i do know my theory and have perfect pitch to an extent.

it probably sounds super high in that song because thats the only time he belts the whole time, so the dynamic of his voice is a lot more punchy and loud, whereas in an alexisonfire song hes belting the whole time, and since alexisonfire generally makes a loud style of music, loud singing fits in the mix in a lot more subtle way.

Yeah, true about the loudness. Well, that Bb is slightly out of my range, I mean I can hit it with falsetto of course but I can't belt it. Ha so I may not be that good of a singer after all! What sort of notes should an average person be able to hit?

i mean, it depends on your range. having a range that isnt focused highly doesnt make you a bad singer at all. the Bb is just out of my range as well. you're probably a baritone like me. while most scene singers are in that tenor II range you can still do a lot with a baritone one, most notably you can work on your lower notes and make them sound really smooth and breathy, you know utilize what you have.

I went to a show with with Thrice headlining this summer and Pelican and Circa Survive supporting. My friends convinced me to go b/c I really wanted to see Pelican. Needless to say Pelican played for about a half hour and I was stuck watching Anthony Green jump around on stage like fucking Richard Simmons.

I think if he's good anywhere, it's in "Rough Hands." I don't think it's as much the notes he hits as his delivery/tone.
