Forgive me father
For I have sinned
And as I walk through the valley of the shadow of death tonight
I only pray that it’s painless

Climbing the side of a mountain with a bible in his hand
He knows his soul is lost, and he’s fighting to stand
But he pulls himself up, rock by rock
He left behind his heart like he left behind the clock
Refusing to be a slave in their endless day to day
And remembering the night when she finally walked away
His chest fills with sadness, there’s a tear in his eye
He’s trying to climb to heaven just to ask god why
Be god never answers, like every time before
And he decided this time he just wouldn’t take it anymore
So he’s making this journey in a thousand others steps
He left a note behind while a thousand others slept
After a while they won’t notice, ‘cause no one ever does
And they’ll all sniff and say how full of life he always was
But behind that friendly smile lived the soul of a malcontent
And while his body’s climbs his mind it making it’s decent

Only one can save him but he kept pushing her away
The only one to calm the demon with the types things she would say
But all of it’s been building, long before her
Can’t remember when this started ‘cause his memories a blur
But this is the final straw and he making his own road
No more painting pictures, he’s about to implode
So our lonely artist climbs this mountain only knowing what awaits
Knowing maybe at the bottom he can find his golden gates

The news will reach the village one voice at a time
And some might even say how bright his star always shined
There never was a clue of the tragedy in waiting
He was just another hero no one knew needed saving
Locked behind an open door night after night
Locked in his fight never knowing wrong from right
Or how he could possible try make her understand
Now he’s drowning in that quicksand, couldn’t grab her helping hand
Grown so weary from trying to stand on his own two
And he ended that letter with just a simple I love you
Directed at the only one who ever really needs to hear it
And she might never read it, his body shakes and fears it
But maybe on a rainy night she’ll drift into a dream
And the drops on the sidewalk will remind her of his scream
The passionate heartache he always carried in his pocket
He walks to the edge now, and knows no one can stop it

He’s taking control of what he never had control of
And the thunder in the hills sings the song of his lost love
The final punch came when he lost the only one
He sits on this cliff and screams to setting suns
Begging for anyone to give him one a reason to try
He only needs a reason, just one to stay alive
But for the last year his cries have been in vein
And now there’s no going back, now he’ll never be the same

But somewhere in his mind he suddenly sees her face
And knows he’s got a reason and its her embrace
He’ll stay alive and fight his war as long as it takes
He knows it won’t be easy, and he knows his body aches
But some things in life, they’re worth fighting for
Spending nights alone, passed out on the floor
Whatever it takes to make it through the pain
Knowing in the morning he might hear her say his name
And those four words, when she says baby it’s ok
Just four words to wash can away years worth of decay
And start the painting over with a fresh brush
Knowing to another man she’ll never mean this much
He hopes that she’ll see it, he knows that she will
One day she’ll hit that wall when his hearts on the spill
And he’ll see that life in her eyes, the one that gave him air
And he’ll lay her down and thank the mountain for hearing his prayer

So he turns around to leave this place, taking life by his side
And scratches words on paper of the night that he almost died
But he saw an angels face somewhere hiding in the stars
Asking him to hang on and to try and heal his scars
Knowing it’s a long shot, but he’s always liked a bet
And with his chips all in, he might shake and sweat
But in the end he’ll pull a flush ‘cause this love will never fade
So he’ll just keep on breathing fighting for the queen of spades

I wish I could tell you that this had a happy ending
But there is no ending, just new beginnings
If you see her, tell her our hero loves her
She’ll know who sent it
And she’ll know that he meant it

So my mic blew, and I had to record a rough take through my laptops built in mic. Sounds kinda shitty, but here's a rough draft.
